Geo: 51.48, -0.605995...well, if the holiday all goes like this, we are in for a wonderful time (OK, I know it won't all be smooth sailing, but how could 109 days holiday NOT be wonderful?)We left Brisbane at 1.30pm on Wednesday. Steven and I cleverly joined the QANTAS club a few hours before we left, so sat with the kids in the relative peace & quiet of the club lounge. The flight to Singapore was largely uneventful (just how I like my air travel!) other than one officious customs officer at BNE and one silly mummy who opened her mouth before engaging brain! The 4 hour stopover in Singapore was a little harder, as we were all tired (only the men slept on the plane). I'd researched the airport for things to do with kids - ... read more

Today my sister informed me that my blog has been somewhat boring lately. I pointed out that this was due to me being sick and therefore, my LIFE had been somewhat boring. So, to make up for that, I can now say that I was able to do some sightseeing this past weekend. Saturday, I went to Windsor Castle. I had a finite amount of time because I needed to be at my brother's around 5:00 PM. When I arrived in Windsor, there was a LOT of traffic! There were quite a few people who had decided to visit Windsor that day. I was finally able to make it to some parking fairly close to the castle. I walked over to the Admissions and stood in line (or queued). Once I finally got in, I picked ... read more

Today I popped down to see the Queen at her Castle. She was busy so I wandered amongst the throng of tourists visiting her abode. Not too shabby. After doing a load of washing I headed through One Tree Hill gardens down to Honour Oak station. Chatted to a couple of biddy's at the station. In London no one says boo to a goose, and I love to see the reaction when you start a conversation. First they look at you as if you have committed a sin, then after a short response, they chat like theres no tomorrow. Rather fun to watch. These two were ignoring each other when I arrived, and they boarded the train chatting to each other about family and health. One of todays tasks achieved, and its only 10am! I left ... read more

Today was Windsor Castle day and we hauled the kids out of bed at an obscenely early 8am to get there in time for the changing of the guard. The train ride was pleasant and efficient and the kids were suitably impressed with the speed at which the train traveled. It was nice to get out of the city and the castle was beautiful. Of course, it started to rain just as the changing of the guard began. Those who have seen the changing of the guard probably know that it goes on for an impossibly long time and accordingly many of those with the best viewing positions eventually get too bored or too wet and move on letting latecomers like us get a good view for the second half. The castle ground and interiors were ... read more

Today we went to visit the Queen at Windsor Castle and she was at home (the flag was flying). While we were there, the Changing of the Guard occurred. We visited the State Apartments and St George's Chapel. The guide was able to tell us about the extent of the damage caused by the fire in 1992, which took out the roof of the Great Hall and some other areas of the castle, and then explained what was done to restore the damage. St George's Chapel is the church of the Order of the Garter, the oldest still active order of chivalry in existence. In the afternoon, we took a river cruise along the Thames.... read more

After much time (over one year) and deliberation the four of us have agreed that we deserve to take a break from studies, work and perfunctory chores. Remniscing the Belfast break we took in Jan '08, I am indeed amazed at all the happenings and changes in the last year. The kids have grown but, not as much as the rent! Anyways, with Trilok's birthday fast approaching, we decided to do a kids holiday this year. This sadly translates to (as those of you who have kids know!) amusement parks and techniquests (not a romantic beach or adventure sport or even pubs!). We chose the Legoland park at Windsor 'cause we only had a weekend to spare and wouldnt be spending too much time on travel. We plan to head away early on the 3rd April ... read more

Today we went to see the magical Windsor Castle, one of the royal residences. I think all were awed by the grace and beauty of the place. Again a place where history seeps from every crevice. In the afternoon we travelled to Porsmouth where we walked on board Admiral Nelson's Victory, this was truly an unforgettable experience.... read more

Well, it's been something silly like 6 months, almost, and we're still not quite there, but it's coming, I can feel it. We hope to move out in a month or so, to Ealing Broadway. Mon has a job! You probably all know this, but it's big and we like it. She's right in town, big commute but it's worth it because it's a job where she'll learn a heck of a lot. It's in procurement analysis, whatever that is. I have resigned from my job, as you may know - to put it in a nutshell, it's boring and repetitive. Ironically, now that I am familiar with the job, I think I might have enjoyed working there had I not been put in the menial dogsbody role. Oh well, they've hired someone to replace me, ... read more

Hiya all, Amazingly we had another nice weekend with no rain! We were just starting to get the feeling that we had somehow been transported into another country when the rain started again today (Tuesday). Now it’s raining pretty consistently and I am not looking forward to my walk home! For your excitement and enthrallment here is the next instalment of our lives: WORK Well, work is work. I have survived my first month here which means I got paid - yah! So no more living on next to nothing and now we can plan some trips further abroad. My work here is still pretty quiet, although I am actually doing audit work at the moment. Last Friday I literally had nothing to do, no-one had work for me, so I was told to surf the ... read more
