Visas & the first real expenses

We now have the first of the four required visas sorted out; the Kazakh Visas. These were perhaps the most tricky that we'll need to arrange as the requirement (in the UK at least), is that the passports are presented in person at the embassy. So once we'd visited the Kazakh Embassy - an interesting little affair down some steps, behind a wooden door, opposite the V&A museum, and surrendered our passports, collecting the little receipt to allow collection, we are now going well on stage one.

It's now happening for sure - the first expenditure we needed (a double-entry Kazakh visa - as we are leaving to visit Samarkand, and return to Almaty).
The return flight from Beijing has now been booked - with that well known airline - Aerosvit Airlines (Ukrainian Airlines)...
Prices seem very reasonable, and we return via Kiev, so let's hope the planes aren't too bad as well!

So now 3 more visas to obtain, and the train tickets, and only 5 weeks to go....
