Today was a train day. We left Venice just before 8am havi9ng hauled our luggage up and over the very steep bridge on the Grand Canal. We are travelling heavy, after 10 weeks of acquiring stuff and with a variety of clothes we have had to bring. The first leg of our journey took us to Milano Centrale where we changed trains for Spiez. Then we had a two hour trip northwards into Switzerland arriving at Spietz about 2pm. Grabbed a Foccacio on the train. the next shorter leg took us to Interlaken where we caught the local train to Lauterbrunnen. Hauling luggage on and off trains became quite an art form but we got it organised between the two of us. A final haul up the hill to this hotel and we were settled into a lovely room in a separate chalet. From our front lawn we can see the Jungfrau in its snowy glory and we are close to the Eiger as well. It is fresh and clear and we will have a great night here before travelling to Paris via Basel by train tomorrow. At the moment I am having trouble uploading photos so the last 3 blogs are without them. Will keep trying so check again in the next few days.
