Edit Blog Post
Greetings from a snowy Switzerland… The final blog of this ‘summer’ is starting the same way as my first one did…
Yes we have SNOW!!! It’s my final week in Switzerland and all my playmates (aka the other reps) have departed for well-deserved holidays/training/pastures new…
So what to do with my last day off tomorrow? Pack or play in the snow – any of you who know me I’m sure will also know the answer to that one! Do you seriously think I’ll sit in my room trying to cram all my gear into too little a suitcase when I could be out running around in the white stuff like an idiot?
I have to say though when it’s really chilly outside sometimes it’s just nice to watch the snow fall on the mountains on channel 1 – which I have been able to do the past couple of weeks as I moved from Wengen back to my usual stomping ground of Interlaken – and I have TV again!
Wengen took some time for me to get used to but I had a fab summer up there and was genuinely sorry to be saying goodbye to so many great characters. The guys from Rocks
Bar… Danny, Kathleen and Angela – you guys really do ROCK! The wonderful hoteliers who kept the reps fed and watered… And of course the other reps without whom this summer would have been all work and no play rather than as much play as possible fitted in between work – some of you are a very bad influence on me - Laura!
So before everyone abandoned me in Swissyland there were various days out and activities… We treated ourselves to another James Bond (all you can eat) Buffet Breakfast up at the revolving restaurant on top of the Schilthorn mountain… This time, making time to enjoy the newly opened Bond World – it’s free entry and great interactive fun for all ages… Videoing 6 of us perched on and in a two man bob sleigh was just hysterical – so maybe the Bond film in question wasn’t the best but for entertainment value Bond World has it covered.
There was also a trip on the world’s first open air cable car – the Cabrio – WOW! That was a fantastic experience; it put me in mind of being on a roller coaster as the cables are on each side
and from the top deck, run below you like tracks… The cable car in question is at the Stanserhorn near Lucerne in central Switzerland and makes another great day out for anyone visiting the area.
I and a couple of mates had a morning off and went out to play… We caught the train to Grindelwald then took the gondolas up to First and then before any of us could chicken out we got strapped into our harnesses to do the First Flyer… It’s a zip wire affair that hurtles you down the mountain side at speeds up to 84kms per hour – exhilarating is one word to describe it… scary as somethinganother is another one! It only takes about 45 seconds to get to the bottom though and the point where the little shutter doors open to release you into oblivion is by far the most nerve racking moment but it sure is fun! It’s the kind of thing where once you’ve done it you want to go again…
And finally there was the Jungfrau Marathon - this one is a toughie... Very steep in places and the runners climb from about 500m above sea level to 2300m above sea
level... Many congratulations to EVERYONE who entered - you guys are superstars! But special congratulations to a friend of mine who knocked 40minutes off last years time and finished in 4hrs29mins! Way to go Marco... of course Steven and I helped - we were there cheering in Lauterbrunnen, and yelling encouragement from the train on the way up to Wengen, we did the same on the train up to Kleine Scheidegg where we watched the finish. If anyone is in
So that’s it really – a relatively short blog for me… It’s been a really great summer and a privilege to spend so much time in Switzerland over the past 3 years… Saying goodbye is something I’m not very good at and this year seemed harder than ever as a few of the Swiss regulars aren’t planning on being back next year but I have great memories of our fun filled days and nights out…
And goodbyes along the way have included lovely lunches (thank you Kathleen), delicious dinners (thank you Andrea) and great nights out (thank you everyone).
Of course there are still a few friends and acquaintances to say cheerio to around and about and I’m sure there’ll be a few more coffees and quite possibly cake involved – Café Schuh here I come!
So I have a busy last few days here in Switzerland! Very much looking forward to catching up with Sam and Beni before I leave - sorry I can't bring sunshine but maybe snow would be a suitable alternative?
Many thanks to everyone who has been reading the blogs and passing them around… Especially Mr & Mrs Taylor – well someone has to keep you informed about what Hazel’s been up to… Mr & Mrs Lane – I will be seeing you soon I hope, The Wengen Posse – you kept me sane (nearly) and Sarah – for plentiful coffees and explaining the workings of Twitter…
I’m off back to the UK for a little while but have a couple of holidays planned before starting my winter contract so look out for another blog coming to a laptop near you very soon! In the meantime have fun and take care wherever you are in the world!
Happy travelling Love Tallulah x

Love The Mention
Hey, finally by the end of the season I had enough time to log on and read your blog. Apart from being mentioned in it which obviously is a plus and is great for Rocks, I loved reading it, for all the right reasons. It is fun but informative, you have made me want to visit the bears. We'll miss you (and all the other reps because this is the first time in years that we've got to know you all) in the hills but hopefully catch up for a coffee (who am I kidding, shame that The Schonegg is closed) before you head off to the UK then that awful place The Maldives. How could you leave the mountains and all this snow? Remember us xxx
