snow angel
we awoke and downstairs on the top of one of the cars was this most delicious snow angel Our first two night stop! Was definitely enjoyed.
The first optional tour of the day was a boat ride on the lake. We chose not to do this, and we are again glad we didn't go. For 22 euro each person, it was so much nicer spending the time walking around the town. As it was, this was really our only chance to have done it, and I wish I had of achieved some shopping in this time as well! After the boat cruise, everyone had to meet at the hotel to jump on the bus. We were taken to the Lion monument, which if you had time you could have easily walked to anyway from the hotel. However they get you going on this, so that once again they can take you to a shop which they claim is really hard to find, for yet another shopping sell! We had chosen to do what was just an afternoon trip to the top of Mt Titlis.
I guess we found it annoying. We spent 60 euros each and by the time we got to the top of the mountain only had an hour and a half to have lunch
and play. That was actually totally annoying as we should have been able to have spent alot more time up there! In the end the idea was we were to get back to Lucerne by 4pm, which gave us time to do shopping in the afternoon. However there was really rough weather as we tried to head down, so the cable cars kept stopping to adjust with the wind blowing a gale! It was really scary actually. Up on the top, we had a reasonable lunch, it was minus 16 at the top, but we didn't need to hire ski clothes. The laughing and mucking around warmed us up anyway. On the way down which took about an hour or so, we had to use a couple of different methods as the weather stopped some of the cable rides. Was an experience if nothing else.
I just remember when we got back into town, we had to run around like idiots to get whatever shopping we wanted done. As much as I enjoyed the trip to the top, I probably would have enjoyed just as much that whole afternoon wandering Lucerne. It really is a most beautiful town.
the bridge
honestly everything just seemed so peaceful, the water was so perfectly clear. totally in love with this city For tea we wandered over to a Fondue restaurant for tea. Ok, so it wasn't a cheap option, I think in the end it was around 40 euros per person, which included the main and a chocolate dessert. It was worth it though for the experience. Was very hot in the diner though, almost too hot at times, so is something to watch out for. Remember layering of clothes so you can strip off in these situations!
A couple of things to add, for our trip, we were not offered the dinner and swiss folklore excursion. Being Christmas time, I'm not sure if this had something to do with it or not, and alot of the usual optional tours were not available to us. Also for the lucerne stop there is also the option just to go to Engelberg only. There is no way you would want to do this. You would be bored to death. There is very little of a town on offer. You are better off staying in Lucerne and checking out that town then wasting 23 Euros just to go to Engelberg
