Oh lovely Switzerland, it's so good to be back!! We so love being here and hiking the alpine trails. I didn't plan to do a Swiss blog, but there were two events that made me want to document this visit. First, we found a new trail from the Waldspitz peak that was delightful. It had waterfalls, glacier views, valley views, mountain peaks, and interesting cliff formations. It was a lovely 4 hour hike from the peak down to the village of Grindlewald.
The second event was the snow storm that occurred in mid July. In Interlaken and in the valley it was just rain. But, the cable car to the Alpen Tower took us into 6 inches of snow. We were the only ones there to enjoy this summer wonderland. Being the sun lovers that we are, we didn't do any hiking in the snow. We just looked at it while having soup and hot chocolate inside the Alpen Tower restaurant.
As always, we did the boat cruise on Lake Brienz and hiked our favorite trails every sunny day that we were there. This is one of those places that we will return to as often as possible. It
truly feels like our second home and we hope it always will.
We are now back in Florida and have been here for the past 2 months. Ron is working on our next big trip and is putting together a true Grand Tour around the World. This is scheduled for January and February. In our attempt to avoid winter weather all our destinations are near the equator or in the southern hemisphere. We'll be in touch!
