We made it to Zurich! After 32.5hrs of flights, navigating of airports and lugging our bags up multiple flights of stairs, we made it to our hotel where we were very pleased to find they had a room available at 9am in the morning. Our first flight was really good, we had more leg room than we thought we were going to get and we watched multiple movies to try and keep us awake until Hong Kong. The Hong Kong airport is massive so we walked around for ages looking at all the different shops, ordered a bit of food, and basically tried to keep ourselves awake until the next flight. As soon as we got on the flight we fell asleep. We'd planned to stay awake until we finished our first meal but we fell asleep before they'd even come out. The last flight was the longest and unfortunately had less leg room and we were surrounded by a young family with kids that would randomly squeal and yell waking us up multiple times during the flight. After our flight we had planned to catch the train into central Zurich and then walk 20mins to the hotel. This idea sounded
great and we were both keen to save a bit of money by taking the train and getting some steps in after sitting in a plane/ airport for so long, but we didn't realise that the 20 min walk to the hotel was basically all uphill and up stairs (not slopes). So we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs not really having a clear direction of where our hotel was either. Luckily some nice Swiss girl took pity on us stopped and helped us out as we looked lost, puffed out, smelly and sleep deprived! She gave us some great advice and told us to take the tram up to the hotel and which line to take. I was so relieved as I was struggling to keep us with blair up the stairs plus not really knowing if we were going in the right direction. We caught the tram, got off at the wrong stop, got back on the tram and then finally made it to the hotel. I was so happy when blair said he saw the hotel and was even more happy once we found out we could get a room that early! A shower was the number one priority at this point, so after a much needed long hot shower we headed into town again, and this time we had a map! We walked down the hill to one of the main shopping streets of Zurich and then walked to the edge of the lake where we got our first glimpse of the the Swiss Alps! We walked through one of the markets and went to the 'old town' in Zurich which has beautiful old buildings and little boutiques everywhere. It's really nice walking around Zurich (especially without the luggage), it's a chilly 7°C here but the shops and cafes are all really warm inside! It's about 3pm here now so we're having a short rest then heading back out for dinner. I'm taking photos on my camera and phone but will only be able to upload photos on here from our phones until I get home so will just put a few up for now. Talk to you tomorrow in Chur!
