woke a little later as both Gry and I have been taken physically by Roma. Both of us so very exhausted! We got ready for breakfast, booked our airport car and headed to the streets for a little shopping and breakfast. Stopped at a quaint cafe near a street Market. I had eggs, toast, bacon and iced cafe. Gry had a panini. Toast was very dry and hard as they don't butter the toast right away. from there, we went to a square that was full of vendors mostly selling fruits and vegetables but others.Clearly catering to the tourists as it was bottles of grappa, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, lemon cello, tshirts and other souvenir items. We purchased a few items and started our walk back to our hotel.
Gry and I were on a tight schedual this morning to get back to the hotel to make our flight And taxi service which was getting us at noon. We popped our heads into a number of shops then we made a mad dash to the hotel to meet our taxi driver. Once there we ran up to outer room, packed up and checked out.
Our driver was a nice
Breakfast
Morning chat with Andy :) guy who pointed out important landmarks along the way. We traveled the highway for most part but did take a whee detour that had Gry and me looking at one another wide eyed and me contemplating who I should call for help. While on a busy hwy, the driver took an off ramp and ended up on a road where one car could go down on its own. As we looked ahead, we could see old falling down buildings and a scrap yard. It was like something from a movie. We were actually very scared! Gry asked "where are you going?" "This is a faster way" he replied. "Doesn't seem to be. The cars can hardly get down here" she said. Then the sky's opened and we were back on the highway. Phew!
Through the gates, security check but again, no customs. I WANTED my passport stamped! Giggles. We looked around the airport hoping to grab a few items for the kids but found nothing that we didn't already see on the streets. We Also thought we could do some shopping in Switzerland. We grabbed a coffee and waited for our flight. This was on Swiss air. No food
was provided except for ice cream and only soft drinks were free.
We both were so tired that we sat quietly and even dozed off here and there. In no time, we were in Switzerland and able to grab a bite to eat and do some shopping. We stopped at this place that did food by the plate. I got a large salad and Gry grabbed a sandwich. We ate then went to our gates and found two very cozy reclining seats where we sat and relaxed.
The next plane we boarded was SAS. on board, we got a small chocolate and coffee or a glass of water. Long way from Lufthansa's all you can drink and huge snacks!
Andy got us from the airport with Andreas asleep in the car. Once back, I went right to bed.
