Tortured Soul!!! Awesome, incredible, spectactular ... I don't have the superlatives to adequately describe their performance. The crowd was basking in their glory and they knew it.

Had a great sleep. Best in many months. Breakfast - cafe con leche w/ a relleno de bergara (some kind of glazed pastry). San Telmo museum - not bad! Neat, free, all good. An old Spanish guy started complaining to me that modern art was crap. We agreed that it was shit (his exact words). Ham and cheese croissant for lunch - good stuff. Walked through a neat little park - great place for thinking; perhaps the only place better is the toilet.

Up the funicular to Mt. Igueldo (more of a hill). Reminded me of Mt. Tibidabo in Barcelona, but a little less tacky (not much less). Had more Basque tapas later on. Croissanwich w/ cheese, serrano ham, and roasted peppers. Another w/ shrimp drizzled with balsamic vinegar, tuna salad w/ pickled sardines. It had been sitting out for a while but was still decent.

Went for pasta with a bunch of people from the hostel. Ok, but the price was right (under 5&euro😉. Relaxed then off to the jazz fest. Was going to leave early, but the band was too good to leave - "Tortured Soul". An eclectic blend of jazz, funk, soul. I'm not a big fan of the Dave Matthews Band, but I enjoy the energy in their live shows. Tortured soul had that energy (plus much more). Throw in raw, powerful lyrics like those from Blue October's "Hate me", add some funky/catchy beats from "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley and you have an incredible mix. I cannot stress how good these guys were ... they blew me away.

The drummer was actually the lead singer (unusual, no?) and was oozing charisma. If you're a fan of music, check these guys out. You will not be disappointed. An unbelievable show (almost 2 hours!!!) that was the perfect end to my last night in San Sebastian. Of course, maybe they seemed better than they were ... I had lots of second-hand pot and hash smoke that night.
