I've just realised that even though we had internet in Seville I never actually managed to write about...
Suburban Seville
I had booked us a 5 bed apartment (3 bedrooms), which wasn't easy to do. We knew it was of in the centre but erent sure what type of area it would be. Turned out to be suburban Seville. Large blocks of apartments with no outdoor areas really apart from some concrete areas that were very unappealing. Some of the apartments had tiny decks, but most (ours included) had the deck space incorporated in the lounge area. It was hot so it was odd not to be outside. The apartment did have air conditioning and was quite comfortable. Hard for any of us to image actually living there though. The owners had lived in it but now live out of Seville with their 3 children. There were a few supermarkets and lots of shoe shops around so was easy for shopping. Ken and I went fo a walk and a drink the first night and the second night we all had dinner at a nearby local bar/restaurant which was fun and fine but it wasn't what I would classify as
'nice'. People seemed to be average middle class, neither poor nor wealthy.
Equivalent distance to Ngaio from the city centre and the buses were easy and frequent.
City Seville
The inner city area of Seville was as beautiful and historic as expected with lovely old buildings, cute cafes, a lovely large cathedral and horse drawn carriages trotting around the place. We had two lovely dinners outside at restaurants - touristy but good none the less. Warm enough to sit outside. Ideally as a couple (rather than 5 of us) you'd stay in the centre and wander around easily.
Did a bit of shopping a the big department store and a few other shops. Mostly looking for summer clothes which was difficult as they think its Autumn going into winter.
The Cathedral was large and lovely but I forgot the guidebook and we got less from looking at not knowing any details.
Flamenco
After much wandering down tiny streets and looking in shops selling and making beautiful flamenco dresses we found the Flamenco Museum. Very geared up to remove tourists dollars but worth it - for the females at least, Ken was very patient. Had a look around
then to Sarah's delight had a flamenco lesson. Lots of fun and reminiscent of latin american dancing. Then there was a show. Good and better than the one in Granada but still not close to the ones we saw as part of the last Festival of Arts in Wellington.
Seville Theme Park
On our last day in Seville we went to the Theme Park. It was a hot day and great that so many of the rides involved getting wet. Kate got completely saturated standing next to one rides - along with alot of Spanish children who were having great fun getting soaked. Not as good as either Gardaland (Italy ) or Disneyland but still a fun day.
