Musicians in Old Town
These ladies were very good and were making good money. The double doors on the left are to our AirB&B. The last couple of days (Friday and Saturday) have been interesting in that we are finding out about the separate communities in Valencia and how they would impact our lives. Our realtor gave us a couple of locations that we could look at to decide where we wanted to live. We looked at the old city of course but prices there are going to be expensive and contain a lot of tourist traffic. It would be the most interesting place to live though. We looked at a more residential community with local groceries and shops near the City of Sciences, and we looked at a more commercial area with shopping malls, pools, commercial buildings etc., which we nixed right off the bat. One interesting apartment on the edge of old town had promise and we looked at the specific location. It was on the second floor and a place called "Mr Monkey" was located on the first floor. The building had 4 floors total. We liked the neigborhood because it had outdoor dining, lots of foot traffic and was not so much in the tourist area of old town. So we sat down at an outside cafe to have a beer
City of Sciences
Looks like the aliens have landed. This is a very neat place along the river walk. The river walk is where the river entered into the city but they closed it off and turned it into a walking park. Very nice 5 mile area. to get a feel of the environment. I just happened to look up "Mr Monkey" on the internet and it turns out to be a bar that opens at 9:00pm. Sure enough, at 9:00 someone comes by and starts opening the place up. The internet indicated that it was open from 9PM until 3AM. So we nixed that location as well. We really have to be careful about our surroundings on a 24 hour basis and not just during business hours when we will most likely be viewing the apts.
So back to how we got here.... On our second yard sale in the middle of May 2018, we were a little wiser. We had sold most of the larger stuff on CraigsList or at the moving sell so we decided to have everything outside. This was much easier in that it al least gave us a place to retreat from the crowds in the driveway and the garage. By this time we had sold all but one of our TVs and all the living room and deck furniture. We started running out of places to sit so we saved a couple of folding chairs, TV tables, and moved
Dinner Out of the Rain
Kathy and I were out walking and was caught in a down pour just a dinner time. Sooooo...we decided to have dinner and wait it out. our last TV to the living room. Things were becoming scarce and time was getting short. We rented a small storage unit to save some of Kathy's hierlooms and important stuff for the both of us and started moving stuff into storage. What a masterful jog of storage. We packed that unit so tight, we had about a half inch between the door and our stuff. We thought we wouldn't get the door closed. But after some negotiations we finally closed and locked the door.
By July 2018 we had our last garage sale. We were giving things away for pennies on the dollar. But we were not going to pay thousands of dollars to store hundreds of dollars worth of stuff that really didn't mean a thing to us.
So on Sunday, we tooled around the area and became more familiar with the areas surrounding our AirB&B. It is right in the middle of the old town and, as we are learning, right in the thick of things. There are musicians from the local music school constantly playing outside the front door as well as mimes and all manner of entrepreneurs via for your money by selling
Inside the Mercat Colon (the Columbus Market)
Pretty but basically a bunch of restaurants. We might make it back when we have a special occasion. trinkets. We found the local Macy's (El Corte Ingles) and Best Buy (Media Markt...yes I spelled it correctly). I don't think that I have been so entertaining in my life. I get laughed at by all the men and smiled at by all the women and fussed at by Kathy when I try. Until next time...
Hasta Luego!

Pig's Lips??
Was thinking about you while working in the yard today, wondering if you'd found an apartment yet. Sounds like an adventure!
