Half an hour's drive to the South West of Pamplona is the beautiful town of Puente La Reina. It's where the two main routes of the Camino de Santiago de Compostelafootpath meet. Obviously we didn't walk, but we did have a good meander around the streets and we loved what we saw. The architecture, narrow streets and churches give the place a real medieval feel. There were a few "pilgrims" walking the trail but there were more tourists toting cameras blocking our way! Other than the pleasant atmosphere there didn't seem to be much to see or do, but the bridge from which the town gets its name was certainly worth seeking out. Started walking quite early around 7am. Met Pep a 35yr old policeman from Barcelona the night before. He is walking the Camino for 2 weeks. We all got talking and the next day he ended up walking with us. Its good to have someone that speaks the language as Jacqui and I keeped asking him questions and getting him to read signs. We had some very heavy rains during the day. Our rain coat that we wear has a hat and covers all our backpack and us. Jacqui looks like Darth Vader in herĀ“s as it is black....You will get to see photos....but they work really well and have been used heaps. Most of the day was walking up and down hills.
