Started walking quite early around 7am. Met Pep a 35yr old policeman from Barcelona the night before. He is walking the Camino for 2 weeks. We all got talking and the next day he ended up walking with us. Its good to have someone that speaks the language as Jacqui and I keeped asking him questions and getting him to read signs. We had some very heavy rains during the day. Our rain coat that we wear has a hat and covers all our backpack and us. Jacqui looks like Darth Vader in her´s as it is black....You will get to see photos....but they work really well and have been used heaps. Most of the day was walking up and down hills. Our biggest climb was on a very muddy slippery track up to The Hill of Pardon which has huge metal statues cut out ....very windy.....We then had the climb back down.....our life.... when we go up we have to come down just to go back up again....starting to get very use to it......we made it to Puente la Reina said see ya to Pep ( we never say good bye to people because we will normally see them again
on the track somewhere) as he was staying in a different albergue and we continued to walk throught the town......Had to walk up a very steep hill to where we decided to stay.....sad thing is a couple behind us thought we were still walking so followed us all the way up only to have to turn around and go down....Oh well they were young.
The place we are staying in is very new and very big. We were told to find a bed and we did a room of about 40 bunks...found our spot and set camp.....very cold.... and no light switch...apparently down the back were 2 smaller rooms with heater,s on...oh well we were´nt moving. Jacqui lost her head light...somewhere between her bed and her backpack .....a distance of 30cm...yea I know how could you miss place it....Jacqui did quite easily........ hope someone else finds it and puts it to good use
Met Thomas from England and we spent the night talking and drinking red. Was a good night but of couse all had to retire by 9.30 and lights out by 10. There was also a asian guy who had his dog with him so he
was sleeping in a small tent out side. His english was very limited....He had sprained his ankle and was staying there for a few days plus quite a deep blister, so Jacqui being the nurse that she is went and dressed it while I drank on. He would have been pretty cold out side...... more than a 1 dog night.
Bought some Bread cheese and yoghurt for our lunch tomorrow and postcards to send when we find a Tobacco shop to buy stamps....yes that is where I have to buy stamps from a shop that sells cigarettes alcohol and stamp. Have found letter boxes along the way to post things but yet to see a post office. Assume that they are yellow as the letter box is
End of day 6

Pilgrim Walk
Thanks for the news of your very exciting walk. Allen is currently serving with the UN Peacekeeping Force in Egypt. His emails seem to correspond with yours. We are seeing two different angles of the world each week. Keep up the good work but above all, keep safe, well and happy. Love Mary xox
