". . . I would rather dine on suckling pig at Botin's that sit and think of casualties my friends have suffered." -
Ernest Hemingway, from Death in the Afternoon (end of Chapter 10).

And so it was that Aron and Sheila found themselves, on their last night in Madrid, at the oldest Restaurant in
Madrid and indeed the oldest in the world: Botin. Opened in 1725 it is the oldest according to Guiness World
Records, and known for its suckling roast pigs, Hemmingway's visits, and there's even rumour that even Goya worked here
as a waiter before he became the famous and respected artist he was later known as.

Oh, the piggy, so crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Mmmm...and the lamb, almost as good. Well worth the visit.

Well, folks, we're off to Barcelona tomorrow and no idea if/when the internet will next be available to us. So we may or may not update this again...keep an eye out though! So here it is, an update of our last day:

Started with another heart-attack churro, followed by a walk to Reina Sofia Gallery. Lots of funky Picasso, Dali and modern art. Very cool, we spent most of the morning here.

Next on our list was Parco Bueno Retiro, and it was quite a great trip as well. It's been through many transitions over the centuries, and the park is now civic owned and public. Trees, grass...you know, a park. Some neat ducks, a frog and fish (all pictured for Betty of course!)

Then back for siesta where Aron got a good shot of me taking the entire bed up (king size isn't big enough for me, it turns out) and ready for our last Madrid dinner.

It'll be sad to leave this city as it's been a gorgeous visit and nothing but good times so far, but I'm sure that Barcelona will be wonderful as well. We're out early on the train from Atocha tomorrow, and beach here we come!

We miss you all and will see you soon!

XO XO XO Sheila and Aron
