The view from the top of the cable car hill overlooking the harbour Yayyy to be travelling again! 4 weeks in london was 4 weeks too many! :P
So today as per normal with my crazy travelling planning we were up at 3am to walk to brent cross and get our bus to the airport for our 6.15am flight! Other than me directing Hayley to the wrong bus stop and almost missing our bus all was good! Good flight and got ito Barcelona at about 10am! This was the first time travelling with Hayley - my kiwi flatmate and so i was crossing my fingers that her map skills and direction sense was better than mine! And she did us proud! Instantly she got us a map and we found our bus into the city and then wandered the streets till we found our hostel with her amazing directioning! I just followed obediantly - as i do! 😊
The hostel was great. 2 really nice guys running it! Very quiet cos not a popular time of year for travelling but was very homely. The guy gave us (well hayley) an even better map and told us exactly what route we should take if we wanted to see everything in 2 days! Which
we did! So we changed cos was 17deg and sunny!!! I contemplated wearing jandals but decided against it and regretted it after 4 mins of wearing my ugs!
Firstly we wandered to what looked like water hoping to catch the cable car to the beach! We followed the cables in the sky and climbed a big hill which proved to have an incredible view of the waterfront and beach. After climbing for what seemed like a while but actually think im just unfit, we decided to have lunch at the top overlooking the beautiful city and try some spanish cuisine - Paella! Wasnt too bad but he did tell us it came out of a box which wasnt hugely encouraging but ah well! So we sat in the sun for a while, flashed our pasty white arms to Barcelona and revelled in the warmth! ahhh! After lunch we found the cable car and took it down to the beach which was pretty cool! Took our shoes off and waded in the freezing cold water and watched spanish boys in speedos looking at themselves and doing stretches! haha 😊 Saw some amazing sand sculptures and just was amazing breathing in

Paella for lunch in the sun! fresh oceanic air! We then just decided to leave the sightseeing till tomorrow as we were starting to feel our lack of sleep - i am getting old! Its apparant! 😊 So we just wandered for ages up and down the streets, through the christmas markets, did a bit of shopping and bought some gorgeous brown leather boots for 29 euro! not bad not bad! We then headed back to the hostel as it started getting cold and chilled out for an hour or so as we had a big night planned!
Got all beautified up for our night out and headed to the magic fountain for the water show, which we thought was close but actually was a 45min walk away - in heels!! It was pretty cool but after seeing the Bellagio water show in vegas itd be pretty hard to beat! Took some ool pics and then started heading in the direction of dinner. We had been recommended a lil non touristy authentic restaurant called La Torres. this turned out to be an hour walk away and by this stage our feet were not happy and I was really feeling my lack of sleep and starting

the view of the harbour from the cable car to fade to be honest! We got comfortable in this very cute lil restaurant and paid 19 euro for 2 tapas, a main with sala, bread, a dessert, liquer, coffee and great service! So much food and so delicious! def recommend! But we were stuffed full and the possibility of going our for sangria and salsa was getting less and less! Things start so so late over there! def recommend getting a fri night flight for a weekend trip instead of sat am FYI! So we walked to a bar called black sheep - a cave underground which seemed cool but no dancing so that shattered our salsa intentions! After admitting defeat we watched some street celebrations as Barcelona had just beaten Madrid n the football, and taxied back to the nice warm hostel for a well needed sleep as we had a massive day planned for the next day!
Really great day! 😊
