Hola! Buenos Dias!
Yesterday we just went walkabout and ended up in the Catedral area and popped into the Dali Museum so took a photo of John and Dali together.... check it out!
We did a little shopping - have weddings and birthdays plus a very important wedding anniversary on 17th January - hard to get much back so will have to do it when I get back but managed a couple of items.
Interestingly enough we can claim all our VAT (GST) back at the airport - one large department store El Cortes Ingles has already processed for us the amount we can claim back just from their store - certainly worthwhile! Would suggest anyone wanting to do the same to make sure they get an invoice for whatever they purchase - get the docket as well as the Visa receipt.
While out and about I felt I needed a lift so stopped at the Happy Pills shop as you can see in the photo - also took a photo of how the motorbikes park on the footpaths here. The motorbikes are a cross between what we know as motor bikes and motor scooters and a
very large number of people use them!!
For lunch we had Tapas and it was great - this is the way the Spanish do it every day - sit at the bar have a drink and tapas - way to go - perhaps Australia should take note and adopt this too. Check the photo on this - quite fascinating the way they do it here.
Last night we had buffalo for dinner and it was really delicious - you should try it sometime - have had it before when in Alaska.
Well we're quite sad at having to leave today and are in the process of packing - not sure what will happen when we get to Frankfurt - with the weather and plane issues but haven't heard anything nor have they phoned us...... yet!
I would suggest to anyone coming to Spain for any length of time to think about learning some basic Spanish - we got through but probably missed a lot because we couldn't read or understand much of it - not many here speak passable English!
We have loved every minute of our trip and have had a truly amazing time
- it will be a big year for John and I so it's off to a great start.
I hope you've enjoyed our blogs and journey over the last month and thank you for taking the time to read them.... hope they weren't too boring for you. My main reason for doing it was so we could remember what we did each day.
Thank you to our friends who have looked after our abodes in our absence and to my team for looking after the office - we really appreciate it otherwise we'd never get away!!
Until next time - ADIOS!!

Another string to your bow
Your blogs of this fabulous holiday have been read with great interest and and set off by the photographs. Perhaps with the coming year's planned travels you could be set to make a travelogue, hence the comment title. Good luck to you both and may 2010 be just a wonderful experience. I look forward to more arm-chair travel.
