Kyles
after a long trek, we finally managed to find the sea! Sunday 8 June 2008 Flat cleaning day, oh joy.
Kyles came round for dinner, as Alex was supposed to be going out to watch the footie, but he ended up eating at home, which meant that we had to SHARE all of the nice sweets that Kyles brought for dessert. Which was OK I suppose - there were 2 lemon meringues and a nice chocolate strawberry creamy custardy thing. Yum.
We then made Kyles watch Omid Djalili, coz he's frickin' hilarious, and she left to catch the last metro.
Monday 9 June 2008 Couldn't sleep very well last night so pretty tired for today's lessons, but can't complain seeing as I've only got 3 hours work!
Tuesday 10 June 2008 The weather's a bit crap this week - the forecast's not very good in terms of it raining all week. But I like walking in the rain, so it don't bother me one bit, no siree. Alex, on the other hand, gets rather down in this type of weather, so he's not too happy :-(
Wednesday 11 June 2008 During the 2 hours I have to kill at the port between lessons, I sat outside in the sun
Sitges
MUCH nicer than Barceloneta and half fell asleep, thus causing my legs to go bright red - which I only noticed when I went to the loo. But it went down and I didn't really get burnt. Weird.
I did a lesson on love today, in which we concluded that the men aren't very romantic. No surprise there then... One of my students left early for a doctor's appointment because he's ill and they don't know why so he has to have a blood test. He's lost a lot of weight - personally I think he looks better but can't exactly say that...!
Thursday 12 June 2008 Last working day of the week - woot woot! Just before I left for my evening class, it started to rain :-( But it stopped while I was walking to the station. However, when I got to the class, they said they couldn't make it, so I went home - but I still get paid so all good :-)
Friday 13 June 2008 Woke up relatively early for a Friday at 11:00 and got ready to meet Kyles to go to Sitges - woohoo! Getting out of Barcelona is GOOD!! :-) Alex was umming and
Barceloneta
for comparison purposes, this is Barceloneta - you can't quite make out the condoms and sanitary towels in the photo, but they're there... aahing for a while about whether to go, because he didn't want to miss the football match tonight, but ended up coming. So we met Kyles at Passeig de Gracia train station and went in the minor entrance so we couldn't buy tickets :-s So we had to go out and walk to the main entrance, where we managed to buy tickets for EUR 5.20 and not EUR 8.00 as Alex said it was before. When the train came it was a double decker one so we sat up top and enjoyed the scenery for 45 minutes. When we arrived at Sitges station, we had absolutely no idea which way to go(!) so we started walking and found a sign that pointed to the beach. When we got to the end tho, there was no sign so we guessed a left turn and bought some water and biscuits at the Spar we passed. While we went in, Kyles asked a couple where the beach was and found out we'd walked in the wrong direction - oops! So we walked back and round and down and out, and still couldn't see any water :-( So again Kyles asked some dude where
weird ball sculpture thing
this is what barceloneta has to offer the beach was and found out that yet again we'd gone the wrong way.... SO we walked back and up and right and down and finally managed to reach the beach - yay!!!!! The water was BEAUTIFUL! There were a few people on the beach so we walked down for a while before reaching a nice little spot where we pitched camp and chilled for the afternoon.
Kyles and I went swimming after a bit and she suggested swimming around the little jutty out rocky bit where people fish off of, so we went around, leaving Alex lying on the sand. When we reached the other side, we chilled for a bit before Alex came around searching for the “missing” duo (natural worry wart that he is). Some more chilling and swimming and chilling and swimming, before deciding we should really let Alex eat something as he'd been going on about it for ages... So we sat at a restaurant where Alex got a bikini, Kyles got some bravas, and I had some fries. Not the greatest food and rather expensive, so left feeling pretty ripped off, especially as we then remembered that there are a few italian gelaterias around.
People watching in the plaza
we were hoping it would break, but it never happened Grrrrr.....
Back home on the 18:26 train so Alex can watch the second match. We got off the stop before Kyles and just as the train pulled into the station, someone let rip and it REEKED!!!!! Kyles blamed it on the dog, so we figured it must have been her, especially as she'd just said a few minutes ago that the bravas was making her tummy hurt. Seriously - it stank!
Saturday 14 June 2008 Alex has lobster legs - HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Silly moo - EVERY TIME, I tell him to put suncream on and every time he says he'll put it on when he starts to feel like he's burning. Well if he won't learn then more fool him - it's his own fault he looks like such an English tourist! Haha.
Went to the Japanese buffet down the road with Tasha and Drew, where the waitress knocked Drew's glass of coke all over him then laughed. Although it was probably a nervous thing, especially as Drew got up abruptly and I thought he was going to shout or hit her...
Kyles came round after, and as Alex watched the match, we went for a walk and checked out a couple of squares. Ended up sitting in one, where we played hopscotch and people watched. Time flew by surprisingly quickly, and we went back and had some dindins. Watched Outlaw, during which Kyles fell asleep - don't think she enjoyed it much. I couldn't watch half of it because it was so damn jerky - had to concentrate on the frickin' wall and listen to what was going on! I don't understand why they have to make films like that - I don't think it was necessary in the slightest, and it just made me feel ill. After Kyles left to go home, Alex and I watched a documentary about skinheads, which was nothing special.
