The next breath
The nights are getting longer, the mornings that little bit darker and honestly my motivation has taken a bit of a dive these past few weeks.
I started my new job in September and always pushing myself I have thrown myself into becoming the best version of myself at work. Now it’s time to work on the balance of work and all the wonderful things I do in my life that bring me joy.
I was reminded today as I took some time away from everything and had a life admin day that every element of myself sometimes needs space.
Seventh on my list and one very obvious goal is to finally do some kind of yoga teacher training, the day I added this I got an email from one of my favourite teachers in Ibiza she is running some training next year and so as I felt the stars beginning to align, I emailed her expressing my interest and then began writing my application I would like to share my yoga story below-
I have been practicing yoga since I was 6 years old. For me a week without a yoga class is like
a week without a proper breath.
I did move away from the study in my early teens but once I began to travel and namely in India it all came back to me.
Having twice completed the two week yoga vacations in Sivananda's ashram in Neyyar Dam, which include a full schedule of meditation, chanting, asana practice and karma yoga I always aspired to become one of the teacher trainees.
As we all know in this modern world sometimes life, work and circumstance get in the way, so for now this dream is not a reality.
As per my email to you I am currently complying a list of thirty things to do before I am thirty to help me stay on the right track and realise some of my younger selfs dreams, so as you can imagine when i received your email about this training course it seemed like all the stars were aligning for this next step to become a reality.
I currently live and work in Barcelona and practice yoga around 6 hours a week, I have a Monday evening Yin class, a Wednesday yogalates class and a Sunday flow class. Each of these
classes and teachers bring a different style and space to my practice and perfectly complement the other cardio exercise I do as a runner.
From reading everything provided on the website as to what this course would entail I do feel fully really to take this on and allow these weeks my full attention. I really enjoyed spending time at your Easter awakenings retreat last year and your style of teaching and confidence in me makes me feel like this time could allow me to blossom as a practitioner and move more into a discipline that truly is the core to my being.
I am hoping that by taking part in these two modules I would give myself the opportunity to really move into the next phase of discovery on the true roots of how important the practice is. I am very keen to learn even more about the ancient teachings and learn the chats and sounds (even if they are silent) which release our bodies and create a state of true being.
I am under no impression that these two weeks will be easy, I understand that it will not be a holiday but a time of deep learning and discovery, this actually excites me in a way that I can spend some real time on my own personal development and learn from you and the other students around me.
Lastly I would like to thank everyone for reaching out and helping me compile my list of thirty before thirty.
I currently have 13 steps on my list-
1- Complete a half marathon
2- Learn Spanish
3- Upskill- learn a new skil
4- Camino de Santiago- even a week of it
5- Go skiing
6- Quit smoking
7- Do some of my yoga training

10- Audition for a random play/movie/tv part. See what happens
