Somehow I was able to sleep in the rock hard bed and my back didn’t hurt when I woke up. I ate my last wonderful continental breakfast and then we rolled out. We drove two hours to Las Murallas. At first we got off the bus to look at the city from afar. It was kind of cool because everything is surrounded by these brick walls. It reminds me of a fairy tale. Okay, the annoying guy from Bash decided to call me at 11 in the morning. He said he was up doing homework and asked me about school. Are you kidding me? I didn’t even know who it was cuz I met him like three weeks ago, and then once I figured out who it was, I wanted to hang up and I couldn’t. ... read more

Hello again! I have a few more things to add in here. Today, Sunday, was another beautiful day in Spain! I slept in, which was amazing, however, I did not enjoy the church bells ringing at the top of every hour for 5 MINUTES straight! I just kept on lying there thinking if it was ever going to stop. And then it did…and then it’d come back an hour later. Emily and I walked over to a field right next to the residencia to watch a futbol (soccer) game. The Spanish LOVE their soccer so it was fun to watch. They are super aggressive and intense and its funny to hear them yell and argue in Spanish. Actually, there was a huge game futbol game last night. It was Real Madrid vs. Barcelona. They are huge ... read more

Hey guys! I thought that I would add in a few more pictures of Avila. There is a place about a 30 minute walk from where I live called the Four Posts. It is on the outside of the walls of Avila (I also live on the outside of the walls, just on the opposite side of the Four Posts). The walls are from the medieval times when most cities had walls built around them in order to protect the people. Avila expanded so slowly after the Medieval times that the walls stayed up, where as in other towns in Spain, the walls were torn down when they were no longer needed in order to expand for more people. You can actually "climb" the walls (take steps up to the top) and walk around. I'm planning ... read more

Hey everyone! I hope that yall had a great spring break! What did everyone do? Things have been crazy here for me, but this weekend I got to relax quite a bit which was so nice and very much needed! Here's an update of what has been going on. MADRID: Last weekend I went to Madrid for a day/night with 2 other girls from Indiana that I am here with. We took the hour and a half train ride from Avila to Madrid Saturday morning. When we got there we wondered around for a bit. We found a cheap, nice hostel to stay in for that night, put all our stuff down, and then headed out to explore Madrid. There was a ton of shopping, which I loved and took advantage of a little bit! We ... read more

Hey guys! I hope yall are having a good weekend! We (me and the other 3 Americans) decided to stay in Avila this weekend, which was really nice. I needed a weekend to relax. I'm still trying to catch up on sleep and my body has been going crazy this past week with getting sick on Wednesday night and having somewhat of a cold now! Please pray that I get better soon cause the next month here is going to be a very busy, but exciting one. Yesterday was an amazing day. Probably the best day that I've had in Spain so far. The weather was amazing and we went to an amazing part of Avila. There is a place on the outskirts of Avila called Los Cuatros Postes. It's not much...its literally 4 posts with ... read more

Hey guys. It's been so great to have everyone back at IU from spring break. It's made this week fun hearing stories and just getting to talk to yall. Nothing exciting has really happened over the past few days. I've been sick since last night, but I'm feeling MUCH better now than I was this time last night. I think that I just had a 24-hour bug and my stomach did not like the half-alive fish that I tried last night at dinner. I won't be eating that anymore... I finally have a picture of my teacher and me. I love her-she's so cute and trendy and such a friendly person. She's helped me feel so comfortable at this school. She student taught in London about ten years ago, so she knows exactly what I am ... read more

Hey yall...so I took down my address because I forgot that ANYONE can read my blog and I don't want anyone in the world coming to see me...so if you want my address, then look in my IM profile or email me! :) I still wouldn't mind getting surprises in the mail! Today was a much better, rather easier/less emotional day than yesterday. I felt a little bit more "on" it with my Spanish. I think that I cannot go a whole weekend without speaking Spanish because that is what I did this past weekend, and I think that that is part of the stress that I had yesterday morning...it was difficult for me to switch automatically back into Spanish to teach a class. The kids that I was with today were great. I was in ... read more

**Pictures of my precious little Spanish students!** http://community.webshots.com/album/548747710ORRMpU Me encantan los ninos espanoles (I love Spanish children)! Today has been a roller coaster day. When my alarm went off this morning I swear I had been asleep for only 30 minutes at the most, but it had actually been 8.5 hours. I think that the lack of sleep and the transition in time is catching up to me. I really haven't had any time to just sit and unwind for a few since I've been here. I taught a lesson this morning to 6th graders. It didn't go bad, but it wasn't great. Not that I was expecting it to be. It is very difficult for me to speak in Spanish without really thinking about what I'm going to say while standing in front of 25 ... read more

Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing well. I am sooo ready for everyone at IU to come back from spring break so I can talk to yall more and hear about break! I miss yall a lot...especially my roomie...its kind of lonely at night sitting in my room. I'm not able to watch you do Kathy Smith :( When yall get back, I really want to hear from you! I'm not going to write much now because I really need to get some sleep. It is 12:15 am here and I'm waking up at 6:30 to catch a train to Madrid for the weekend with Emily and Rachel. We are meeting Ryann at the airport on Sunday morning. This has been a very looong week...very exhausting and draining, but I love it all at the ... read more
