Got a call back about one of the apartments and arranged for a visit at 12.00 today. Apartment is about a mile in from Las Chafiras. It is a two bed two bath penthouse apartment with views of the sea and the mountains. Cost will be 650 Euros per month. This ticks all the boxes of what we wanted on a place to live. Went to see our friend’s apartment this afternoon. This was a ground floor two bed one bath apartment in the village of Costa Selencio. Rent would be 500 Euros per month. We decided that the first apartment is worth the 150 Euros a month more. Called the owner of the first apartment and told him that we would take it. It is currently not furnished, but he is going to furnish it ... read more

Had a good look through the papers picked from Iceland yesterday. Found a couple of apartments that seem to meet our requirements. Left messages for both to arrange viewings. Went to see the dog pound. They have about 400 dogs, and look to need all the help they can get. They have recently moved to a plot of land up from the hotel, but they need a lot of work doing. We will definitely be spending some time here once we are living over here. ... read more

Decided to take a look into Iceland today. We have heard that they stock a lot of the English cannot do without products. Prices were very reasonable, only very slightly above those in the UK. Picked up a couple of English papers whilst we were there. ... read more

Went to market in Los Christianos. Met a couple that run a home for abandoned dogs. We had already discussed doing volunteering work when we are here for long period and this seems to be the ideal project for us to be involved with. Arranged a visit to their site for Tuesday morning ... read more

Early start today as our flight is due to leave Heathrow at 8.30am this morning. Got up at 4.00am and checked the BAA website to see if our flight is one scheduled to leave. Relieved to see it is. Got to the airport about 5.00am The airport was full of people that had been due to fly over the weekend but whose flights had been cancelled. They were checking all people entering the terminals. They had a list of flights that were confirmed as departing and if your flight was not on their list they would not let you into the terminal. Our flight had been booked through Iberia, but on a British airways plane. Because our tickets said Iberia, the ladies on the door did not think our flight was going as they only had ... read more

Southern Tenerife couldn’t be more different from the natural and architectural splendours of La Palma and La Gomera islands. The coast is dominated by the large tourist development of Playa de las Americas where the first language is English, and the staple food fish and chips! Perhaps this wasn’t going to be a particularly cultural part of the trip. We decided we’d need to do something different or go insane. We signed up for a two week language course in La Laguna to the north of the island, starting on Monday. La Laguna is the home of the Canary Islands first university so it seemed fitting that we go there for our return to schooling. To get up the coast for the first time in a while we have to sail upwind to get to Santa ... read more

Zrobilismy tez wycieczke na turystyczny “must” Teneryfy: wulkan El Teide.
