Santa Cruz is sited on the slopes of a volcanic crater. It was an important port in the Spanish empire.

The main street is a pedestrian precinct with many historic houses and residences.

The Iglesias de El Salvadore sits in the Plaza de Espana.

On the shoreline there are the Casas de Los Balcones, old houses with lovely wooden balconies.

Calle O Daly leads North towards the replica of Christopher Columbus ship.

Many cruise ships visit Santa Cruz but these do not detract from the port and the numerous bars and restaurants add to the atmosphere.

We walked from Los Cancajos to Santa Cruz then wandered around the hilly streets and had coffee and cake.
