The ship is on its way to Las Palmas for dry dock. That means the ship will be out of the water for a while. When the dry dock work is done, we will go back to Tenerife to finish work on the ship that does not require dry dock. It much less expensive to be in Tenerife because Mercy Ship has friends there who arrange docking, etc. at no or little cost.

We are at sail now. I had to get up early to do laundry. After five years of constant use, the machines are breaking down. There are only a few left working at this point. Hopefully, that is one thing that will get repaired before we go on to Guinea. I looked about town for a Laundromat but only saw dry cleaning.

While in dry dock, breakfast will start at six which means that I will need to be there at 4:40 on my working days. Many short-term crew members on my team left this week. We went from 6 down to 2 dining room staff! Yesterday was a busy day for me. The galley is getting some work down on it so our meals are being prepared in a very small crew kitchen. The ice machine is broken. Thus, there is a lot of walking to different parts of the ship to get food (deck 6), ice (deck 3), and drop off trash (deck 5). You get the picture. But everyone is happy about the new oven that will be installed. The doors in the old one did not stay open so it always took three people to remove what was in there. There will be power outages too. It is like living in a house while it is being remodeled.
