With all the bites Reesa and I were covered in, we had come to the conclusion that the bedbugs were still with us for sure. We spent the morning shopping for a long sleeve shirt so poor Reesa could cover her bites. Mine were getting a bit better by now. We also bought debugging supplies such as insect killer and garbage bags. We took a bus to San Sebastian at 3pm. The hostel we were staying at was called Hospedaje Ibai and was run by this cute spanish couple that spoke no english. But they were so nice and the place was spotless. I recommend it to anyone going that way! There was only a slight problem. The wife explained to us that for our first night she only had a room for 2 ppl and ... read more

Woah, its been a while since the last update. From London I went straight to Barcelona and stayed there for a few days then went to a nice town called Cadaqués on the Costa Brava in Cataluña. I really liked Barcelona probably because it is so different from every where else I´ve been so far. I really love all the different styles of architecture and the Modernisme buildings were really amazing. Gaudi! His La Sagrada Familia is unbelievable. Wow. I spent a whole two days suntanning in Barcelona and Cadaqués and I´m more brown than I´ve been in a long time. It´s weird...but I like it. But I feel like I´m going to get skin cancer. After Cataluña I went to Basque Country (País Vasco). I went to Bilbao first and went to the Guggenheim museum ... read more

Well I heard that there is going to be a Bob Dylan concert here, free on the beach, so the plans to leave San Sebastian on the 11th have now been cancelled to accommodate Bob, should be excellent fun. I got up early and headed to the beach for some pilates and fitness, gotta love anywhere where you can be by the waves and hear the surf. I spent the day walking to the opposite end of San Sebastian and up to the lighthouse and amusement park at the top of the hill. There was also a beautiful park made up of an old homestead where I took in some breathtaking views before heading back to the surfbeach. That night was the final of the World Cup so Sarah, Mick, Mus and I headed to an ... read more

So we've been staying with the Urban House hostel, it's all very basic but the staff is really nice and they arrange lots of activities. On thursday evening we decided to follow along on their Basque Gastronomic tour with traditional basque food and customs. Pri stayed behind doing other stuff though. Thursday Night: This event is held each thursday night and cost €25 to join, and is highly recommended for a nice time. The evening started at the main office with about 20-25 people or so trying to drink wine from a leather sachet. This is done by holding the sachet from a distance of 0.5-1 meter from your mouth and by squeezing the sachet getting the wine to hit your mouth... trying not to miss. A nice surprice was a group of young girls walking ... read more

I woke up at 8 and went for a run to get my exercise fix. Heading to the hill where there is a giant statue of Jesus. I did so many stairs going straight up this hill but discovered it is an old battery for the English as well as the govenor etc. My favourite past time on this trip seems to be reading my book by the most picturesque locations. It was so good to get a novel, off a girl in Barcelona who had just finished it. I went back to the battery and did a propery exploration. Saw the most gorgeous views. I hadnt realised how beautiful San Sebastian was and the amazing geography. Its a beautiful cove with hills at both heads adn an island in the middle. A river runs through ... read more

After initially being told the bullring was sold out I managed to score us some tickets. We were there at 6.30am so we had an hour and a half to kill. Met a couple of Aussies adn a New Zealander in the queue who helped to keep us amused. A casual exhibitionist ran through the arena about half an hour beforehand, he was prancing and being a general wanker (must be an aussie!) Then some military police came out, surrounded the outside of the arena, before one of the macho cops ran and spear tackled him. At 8am a whole lot of people started running through the stadium. A few women at the beginning defying the tradition, these people must not have been anywhere near the bulls, because in the next couple of minutes, more and ... read more

Spent the day on the bus before arriving in San Sebastian. We (Mus and Sarah from Canberra and I) decided to head to the running of the bulls. There were no buses early enough in the morning or returning late at night so if you wanted to go the last bus from San Sebastian is at 9.15pm with the first bus back at 9.15am. We went for tapas first in the old town which is an institution in Spain. Because they dont eat dinner until 9pm these bars have hundreds of appetizers lined up which you snack on. It was awesome. For 6 euro I had a delicious meat skewer, octopus skewer, bread with prociutto, black rice adn sundried pepper and a prawny one. The entire population of Pamplona seemed to be out and abotu with ... read more

We arrived at 10.44, found the tourist-info and had just had time to sit down outside considering where to start looking for a hostel to stay. A girl walks up and recruits us to their hostel with a speach of the basque culture. She manages to find us three beds - not exactly cheap by €26, but ok considering where we are and not booking ahead quite ok. They also arrange lots of events such as the traditional basque dinner that I think we'll be trying tonight. Havn't had time to do much more here today, it's too cold and windy to stay at the beach. They say it's supposed to be expensive here, but after a good dinner with newly made juice for under €7 (remember - we just came from Paris and live in ... read more
