Part 4 Mallorca
June 24

We landed on the island of Mallorca and rented a car. We were so releived at how easy Mallorca is to drive. The roads were well marked and the infrastructure is better than barcelona. That was a nice change. Once we arrived, we quickly left the bussling city of Palma and headed to the rural center of the island. After a short drive, we arrived at our destination, the beautiful Hotel Rural Sa Torre de Santa Eugenia. The hotel was an old vineyard farmhouse was converted into a lovely villa in the middle of wine country. It looked as though we were in a spanish house in Paso Robles. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. The hotel is surrounded by meditteranean gardens and all of the aged masonry shouted, "Old Spanish Villa." We spent that day just relaxing and taking in the views from our patio and enjoying the quitness that the country provided. It was quite the difference from the crazy city of Barcelona. At Sa Torre, they have a spectacular restaurant in the old Cellar. The room is massive with vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, and giant wine barrels. The meal was very classy and only served a three or four course meal. We got all dressed up and got lost in the food and wine.

We enjoyed a very bountiful breakfast at the hotel. We decided that we wanted to explore the near by area and we found a winery, Macia Batle, a short drive away. We got there just in time to do a cellar tour and learn all about the winery. They took us on a fabulous tour and provided tastings at the end of not just their wine but of their local olive oils and speads as well. We decided to head back and relax by the pool for a short while. After the pool we cleaned up for dinner and ended up at an Italian restaurant at the next town over. Due to the nice weather and the popularity of the restaurant they had a large outdoor seating area set up across the street in a courtyard some distance away from the main restaurant itself. It was very nicely executed for being somewhat isolated from the main restaurant and the waiter was phenomenal.

We had to check out from our dreamy country villa and move on to the next leg of our trip to head to the small village of Campanet, not without a visit to the south western side of the island to the beach of Es Trenc. This was a very popular beach with lots of people and a few bars. It was fun to people watch here. After a few lazy hours at the beach we headed north to Campanet.
