We started slowly and, for various unit-related reasons, ended up missing the 8:54am train by seconds ... but we had plenty of time so weren't too worried. At check in, my parents learned that, due to an aircraft change, they were downgraded from First to Business. Sigh. But we were still allowed access to the First Class Lounge, which was nice. Ate, made hotel reservations in Manaus, Brazil, until boarding.

The flight was, on the whole, fairly uneventful. My parents had three seats between the two of them, which was good, because my mum could move away from the guy in front of her who wanted to recline as much as possible. Even in Business Class on some airplanes, your feet get squished if you have your foot rest up and the person in front of the reclines all the way. So, I rubbed her feet to take away the stiffness and moved her to the center seat, with no one in front of her.

I went to sleep after dinner, but slept fitfully.
