They say the darkest hour is just before dawn, well for me it’s about 3am. I woke early this morning and just couldn’t get back to sleep, too many thoughts wizzing around in my head, too many unanswered questions, too many answers to questions I wish I hadn’t asked. Don’t they say ignorance is bliss? It’s a melancholy and lonely journey at 3am and the only place to go when your sharing a room is the bathroom, so I’m typing today’s episode sat on the cold stone Spanish tiles and wondering if I’m a little crazy.
It’s change over day, not a good day to feel tired but I do. After watering the terraces (why oh why didn’t they just install a drip feed system), cleaning the pool and sweeping the surround, Dee and I set to helping Kate clean the two vacated Casitas. The one we had been due to move into has just been vacated by a couple with a small baby, they hadn’t looked happy when we saw them and now we can understand why. Out of all the Casitas it is probably the worst and although our store room is the pits, in a way we
are quite relieved not to have moved into this instead.
The day passes in a blur, I’m feeling weak, tired and melancholy, but thankfully we break at 2pm and I get to spend a few hours by the pool typing an email and petting Teo the gorgeous but slightly flatulent and smelly resident kitten before its work again and time to help prepare dinner. I get a break when I’m sent to fetch some chairs from the pool side and get talking to one of the new guest couples Mike and Helga from Melbourne Australia when I ask them if they would like a drink. They enlist my assistance to help them solve their digital camera memory card problems and we discover that unfortunately the new 4GB SD card they have bought is a high def version which their camera doesn’t recognise.
The day finishes on a slight high when Kate in front of her guests tells us that we are the best pair of WOOFers she has ever had and even Ian who hates all WOOFers comments how well things have been going since we arrived.
