Bonjour à tous, Je devrais plus tôt vous dire bonsoir. Je n'ai jamais commencé mon blog aussi tard que ce soir, il est 22h. Hier j'ai eu une journée assez décevante, celle d'aujourd'hui, je n'ai pas encore trouver le qualificatif, chose certaine, je suis épuisé, vidé. Je fais ce soir mon 390 ème blog, et je n'ai jamais vécu pareille journée. Ce matin tout va bien, au moment de partir, je jette un oeil sur ma carte, avant de, normalement programmer, Seville, mais je vois Alcala dans la grande banlieue, et cette ville apparait dans certain guide, je la met en étape intermédiaire. I got up early for some photographs of the impressive cathedral, but lit up in the dark and, hopefully, without all the crowds who are filling the streets until way after my bedtime. There were a few people who were still enjoying their Saturday night out, but only a few. Sadly though, the illuminated building was a non-starter as the flood lights had been turned-off. It wasn’t a total wright-off, however, as the cathedral looked particularly stunning when the sun came up and it was bathed in the red, early morning light. It was nice to listen to the bells striking as I was waiting for some light. Nothing has changed. I can’t stand Luton airport, which, despite all the building work seems to be getting worse rather than better. It's getting more and more 'Ryanair' every time we go there, starting with being charged for simply dropping people off and with cameras everywhere to enforce it. Next, there’s the building work itself as this airport seems to be in a constant state of ‘improvement’. It’s a long, long process, but they may get there eventually. Then there is the baggage drop, which you have to do yourself now. Mind you, I can’t just criticise Luton on that one, as we had the same experience at Heathrow last year (see ). We: walked freely – used a ‘Hop On’ bus – walked freely – lunched magnificently – did a sensational guided walk – walked freely – rested – ice creamed - did an insightful, enjoyable, informative night guided walk – walked quickly and freely – dined and wined and laughed and conversed in a multitude of languages including sign - made new friends – reflected on what travel is to us, emotionally – showered - rested. A very comfortable and unrushed train journey to Seville. Jane read and dozed while I viewed the ever changing countryside with its mountains, undulating hills covered with olive groves, grass fields for animal feed, sunflower crops and cereal crops as well as small farm hamlets scattered along the sides of the gentle valleys. Seville! A new experience for Jane and myself was the taxi ride from the station to our accommodation through the narrowest of narrow streets enclosed by high walled buildings; that no one could fit either side of the vehicle. Jane felt a little claustrophobic as the ride progressed. Our hidden but once we saw our destination all was well.
