well well well, i finally have pics from October´s excursion to Córdoba and Granada, both in Andalucía, Spain´s southern semi-autonomous community.

it wasn´t my first time to Córdoba since it was part of the family itinerary in March of ´04. nonetheless, it was cool to be back. the famous Mezquita (mosque) turned Cathedral was awesome as usual-i think islamic architecture is gorgeous. the Catholic church certainly effed it up when they converted it. Córdoba has served as both the capital of an islamic emirate as well as caliphate during the time of the great Islamic Kingdoms, so there´s definitely no lack of arabic influence. we also hit up the alcázar, a fortress-residence of sorts where some royalty spent time. that night we hit up a flamenco show, which wasn´t as good as the one i saw with the family in Sevilla, but it was pretty chill nonethelss. we had bought a hookah there so our evening was finished smoking some of that (cherry flavored) before calling it a night, since Córdoba´s night-life was more or less nonexistant.

the next day started our granada adventure. btw, we were staying in 4-star hotels, which was pretty sweet of BC, and the

couple meals we had at the hotel (especially in Córdoba) were ridiculously delicious. anyway, the alhambra is pretty much the highlight of granada. its a massive moorish fortress complete with gardens and the like. its no wonder the place is up for the new list of the 7 wonders of the world. we also hit up the albaicin, the old arab quarter, which is basically old white-washed houses and buildings. gypsies live up in the caves up above the area. other than that...hmmm....well, i had either 3 or 5 doner kebabs (definitely no less than 3) between 12 and 5am one night. disgusting.

Oh, Jeff, it's so good to hear from you! You've been gone too long. I'm anxious for December 21st, when we'll all be together -- at least for a little while. What an experience this has been. Thanks for letting me travel with you.
