We're now on a campsite with a pitch 30 seconds from the pool and the beach/sea just over 2 minutes. Over the last five days we've been in the Med many times to cool off and it's great walking just a few paces and being up to you waist, so no hovering about, you just get straight in.....so refreshing, and, beautifully clear- yesterday we saw shoals of fish swimming on the surface a couple of feet from us and as waves broke, they could be seen in the waves!!!! We've found that the days we haven't gone exploring, it's too hot to be at the beach all day, so we go for hour stints at a time, cooling off a couple of times with a swim in that hour, but the best time of day is ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485We had a lazy start to our day, but once we were up and running we headed into Estepona for breakfast. We found a nice cafe at a plaza near the center of town. We then had our final wander through this lovely town, as tomorrow we head to Portugal. Once back at the condo we started packing our suitcases and cleaning our home for the past two weeks. The condo has been perfect and Mariano the owner has been a fabulous host. The location was great for all the exploring we enjoyed. At 10:30 pm we headed to the Malaga airport to pick up Allison and Patrick. It was wonderful to see them walk through the arrivals gate. Then it was off to our condo for our last sleep in Estepona. ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485Today we enjoyed a very late start to our day, but we still made it into Estepona before noon for coffee. The town is quieter today which made it more enjoyable for checking out some different side streets. We also walked farther along the beach picking up shells and tossing rocks before looking for a nice lunch spot. Today we decided to enjoy some seafood at restaurant in a little plaza area near the centre of town. We ordered grilled sardines which are very popular here and a salad with different fruits and prawns. It was all delicious. On our way home we stopped at a local supermarket for groceries and some fresh prawns for dinner tomorrow night. We did a load of laundry in the afternoon and the machine cycle we accidentally chose took ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485Today we enjoyed a lazy morning before heading off to Estepona for coffee. It is another beautiful sunny day so we had coffee at an outdoor cafe located in Plaza de Las Flores, the central square. Then we wandered through the town looking at some street art and local park areas. There are beautiful flowers on every street. We enjoyed empanadas for lunch at a different outdoor cafe. As we walked the beach promenade today we could just see the outline of Northern Africa as well as the Rock of Gibraltar. Estepona is a clean little city (though they do not clean up after their pets!!). On our drive home we drove through some of the streets where our condo is located. It is very quiet here at the moment, but in the summer ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485We woke up this morning to the sounds of birds chirping and it reminded us of Costa Rica. We had a cup tea and a few biscuits on the patio before showering and heading out for the morning. We found our way into the lovely central area of Estepona Where we wandered up the narrow streets lined with potted geraniums. In the town center we found a place where Jim could buy a Sim card for his phone only to find out he needed his passport to purchase one. We decided to have a little breakfast and cafe con leche before returning to the condo. On our return to Estepona we purchased the card and then visited the tourist info office for maps of this area. We found a coffee bar on a pretty ... read more

Today was a quiet today for all, especially for the kids. In the afternoon, Mark and Deb went out for a few hours while the kids relaxed around the Marriott. We started in Benahavis where we walked around the small town which was quiet except restaurants which were open on New Year's Day. Deb liked the hanging poinsettias in the town and of course the Santas hanging outside several of the windows. We decided we'd drive toward Estepona to have a drink outside in the sunshine. We stopped at Laguna Village which is just between the Marriott and Estepona. They have a Mai Tai Bar (Trader's Vic's) which was packed and then a cute beach restaurant with outside sofas and comfy chairs that Deb and I sat down for a drink. It was wonderful sitting in ... read more

Today was a relaxing day at the timeshare in Estepona. Everyone slept in and we spent the day relaxing in the beautiful sunshine. We were very happy with the resort and its amenities. The kids had a fun day playing basketball and soccer with other kids on the sport court and in the indoor pool. Mark and Deb enjoyed lying in the sun reading. For dinner, we drove to Puerto Banus and had dinner at an Italian restaurant recommended by Nancy, Amore y Fantistico. The pizza and pasta were great. Thanks for the tip Nancy! It was then back to the unit for a quiet night as tomorrow we are off to the Alhambra in Granada!... read more

We just had a wonderful week in the white town of Casares. We rented an apartment in the middle of the town and spent our week climbing up and down our 4 story home. It is a beautiful, small authentic town situated 10 km up a mountain next to the Mediterranean ocean. We had a terrace on the top floor where we could overlook Gibraltar and the mountains of Africa. Upon our arrival we met a woman named Beth, a Brit turned hippie Spaniard, who showed us to our place. She spent an hour and a half sharing must-do's of the town in a wonderful British/horrible Spanish accent. She wore neon green earrings and green converse. Quite a character. The town had a very slow feel to it; Men sitting in the main square, woman ... read more

This time it was off to Spain! We only had 3 days to explore - so it was go...go...go! Day 1: There is nothing worse than an alarm waking you up....especially when it goes off at 2:15am!!!! Yes, that's right - 2:15am. That's when we had to rise and shine to catch our 6:45am flight from Stansted Airport (London). At 3:15am we stepped out the door, walked a mile to Putney High Street, and waited for the number 14 to take us to Tottenham Court Road. We had a 5 min walk through the city to our next bus stop. It was 4am on Saturday so we had the pleasure of wheeling our suitcase through the hoards of intoxicated party goers (what fun...)! It was then onto another bus to Waterloo. By 4:45am we were ... read more
