With Shelby's ankle still a little banged up from canyoning and knowing we had a 22 hour travel day in the near future, we decided to take a day to chill. This gave me an opportunity to SLEEP in and enjoy a cup of coffee from the balcony with breakfast. Mostly, I couldn't believe how far behind I felt in so many things. How can you be behind on a journey is the question I kept asking. The list compiled quickly: completing the workout program I had left for my soccer teams to show them everyone can find time, journaling, reading the 10 books I committed to on this trip, blogging, soccer work, laundry, catching up on sun and sleep. It was a great day of sun, walking the beach and collecting trash, and catching up. ... read more

We took today to just be. Considering it is day 20, it is pretty impressive that we have not taken a day to do this yet. There have been too many things to see and do in our previous locations and too little time that we were staying to allow such a thing. The day consisted of mini-golf, visiting the book exchange, reading, cooking shrimp curry for dinner, getting some soccer juggling in, walking the beach, swimming, working out (access to a full gym was a pleasant surprise) and playing cards. The highlight of the day for me was collecting rocks on the beach and skipping stones into the water along with having the opportunity to just sit and watch the changing of the sky as the sun set.... read more

It’s fast approaching, our trip to Sri Lanka, and I have made no preparations at all which is so unlike me. Caroline has arranged everything so, all being well, I just have to arrange my visa and pack my bag. I’m finding it hard to get enthusiastic as we are all waiting for Ginis test results but hopefully I’ll be able to go with relative peace of mind. Roll on 28th February. ... read more

First job is to get packed up in Spain and head home for Christmas. Our time in the UK will spent finding and buying a Motorhome. It'll be exciting, we've done a mountain of research so we know what we're after and where to look. It'll all be on here and I'll try to post a few entries of our journey back, just for a bit of Blogging practice... I've uploaded a few images frome our start point, again just for a bit of practice. If you'd like to see more images, please take a look at my web site for a taste of what may be expected from our trip. I hope you like them.... read more

We were all excited as we set off at 11.45 this morning on our way to Malaga Maria Zambrano train station. We left the car at Red Car Parking and they gave us a lift to the station. It was so good to get on the cool, comfortable, air conditioned train to Madrid. We looked out over the golden, sun bleached, landscape and acres of olive groves as we sped by. We took a taxi to Madrid airport. It was a three hour wait before our flight but it passed by quickly. How ever, our 22.05 pm Emirates flight to Dubai seemed a very long flight indeed. We had intended to sleep but not a lot of sleeping was achieved - we were all pretty shattered when we got to Dubai. Then we had to get ... read more

We're now on a campsite with a pitch 30 seconds from the pool and the beach/sea just over 2 minutes. Over the last five days we've been in the Med many times to cool off and it's great walking just a few paces and being up to you waist, so no hovering about, you just get straight refreshing, and, beautifully clear- yesterday we saw shoals of fish swimming on the surface a couple of feet from us and as waves broke, they could be seen in the waves!!!! We've found that the days we haven't gone exploring, it's too hot to be at the beach all day, so we go for hour stints at a time, cooling off a couple of times with a swim in that hour, but the best time of day is ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485We had a lazy start to our day, but once we were up and running we headed into Estepona for breakfast. We found a nice cafe at a plaza near the center of town. We then had our final wander through this lovely town, as tomorrow we head to Portugal. Once back at the condo we started packing our suitcases and cleaning our home for the past two weeks. The condo has been perfect and Mariano the owner has been a fabulous host. The location was great for all the exploring we enjoyed. At 10:30 pm we headed to the Malaga airport to pick up Allison and Patrick. It was wonderful to see them walk through the arrivals gate. Then it was off to our condo for our last sleep in Estepona. ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485Today we enjoyed a very late start to our day, but we still made it into Estepona before noon for coffee. The town is quieter today which made it more enjoyable for checking out some different side streets. We also walked farther along the beach picking up shells and tossing rocks before looking for a nice lunch spot. Today we decided to enjoy some seafood at restaurant in a little plaza area near the centre of town. We ordered grilled sardines which are very popular here and a salad with different fruits and prawns. It was all delicious. On our way home we stopped at a local supermarket for groceries and some fresh prawns for dinner tomorrow night. We did a load of laundry in the afternoon and the machine cycle we accidentally chose took ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485Today we enjoyed a lazy morning before heading off to Estepona for coffee. It is another beautiful sunny day so we had coffee at an outdoor cafe located in Plaza de Las Flores, the central square. Then we wandered through the town looking at some street art and local park areas. There are beautiful flowers on every street. We enjoyed empanadas for lunch at a different outdoor cafe. As we walked the beach promenade today we could just see the outline of Northern Africa as well as the Rock of Gibraltar. Estepona is a clean little city (though they do not clean up after their pets!!). On our drive home we drove through some of the streets where our condo is located. It is very quiet here at the moment, but in the summer ... read more

Geo: 36.4247, -5.14485We woke up this morning to the sounds of birds chirping and it reminded us of Costa Rica. We had a cup tea and a few biscuits on the patio before showering and heading out for the morning. We found our way into the lovely central area of Estepona Where we wandered up the narrow streets lined with potted geraniums. In the town center we found a place where Jim could buy a Sim card for his phone only to find out he needed his passport to purchase one. We decided to have a little breakfast and cafe con leche before returning to the condo. On our return to Estepona we purchased the card and then visited the tourist info office for maps of this area. We found a coffee bar on a pretty ... read more
