Friday 14th Nov Isla Plana - Camping Los Delfines MAZARRon Mazarron is definitely a little corner from heaven on earth. If ever there is a place I would like to retire to, it would be it. Linda shares my feeling on this little gem.. It has 6 perfect half moon bays with clean sandy beach, The centre of town oozes with style, the marinas is more of a small port where most boats are of the fishing/sailing boat; none of the mega-millions pounds super-boats here and all the better for it! As usual we took the bikes for a ride from Camping Los Delfines situated some 4miles from Mazarron in Isla Plana, This is another place I promised myself to comeback to for a longer holiday.. Treinta días de vacaciones. ¿Qué destino elegir? India!

I am in Gabo de Gata park in South-East Spain. It is considered to be the desertiest area of Europe, with the source coming from Africa. The spaniards refer to it as la mierda de España. I disagree. We are part of a community of young people who run a farm. The farm is amazing - goats, pigs, dogs, cats, donkeys, chickens, geese, germans. So beautiful and a great community to live in. We have a garden that is STILL in december giving salads, tomatos and other deliciousness. The sea is on the horizon and the mountains are all around. We see the Sierra Nevada, snow covered, from our roof. And the seclusion! You never hear the cars and trucks, only the rooster crowing (all night, there are five terretorial males, and I haven´t felt more ... read more

Hola! We are enjoying the sun in the south of Spain. It is about 32 degrees here everyday and we are loving it. This is the first bit of real summer weather we have had this year so we are absorbing every ray! We got into Almeria at 9:00 local time on September 2nd, that´s noon Pacific time on the first day of school for those keeping track. It was a bit late so we found a Hostal and spent one expensive night there. (Expensive is a very relative term as it was still MUCH cheaper than Britain) The next day we moved to the youth hostel across town and then headed straight to the beach. We didn´t get burnt though (suprisingly) because there were a couple of protective clouds in the sky. We swam in ... read more

Sahil yolundan ve bitmez tükenmez "sera" arazilerinden geçerek, Almerias'a vardık. Seralara uzaktan bakınca naylonun rüzgarda kımıldamasından olacak, gri bi... read more

Travel blog 16 Thursday, 14th February Bad hair day! Got up today to Andy's comment that if the Queens guard had the same hairstyle as me they could do away with their busby's! That was it, caught next bus into Granada and found a hair salon with the the gayest hairdresser ever. He spoke no English so it was gesticulation communication which seemed to work. No water in Granada today so no wash, just a cut. Shame he did not speak English as I was dying for him to ask me if I had been anywhere nice on my holidays......... ! Really enjoyed wandering around Granada, which is a wonderful city. Very clean and we felt especially pleased when we saw first dog fouling penalty sign. Pity rest of Spain does not take note on this ... read more

We are back in Roquetas de Mar, on the Southeastern coast of Spain. We left Sevilla on Sunday with Stella, Stefan and our Argentine landlord waving goodbye. It is about a 4 hour drive past Granada and up over a mountain pass that is 1,300 meters (about a mile) high. There is still a fair amount of snow in the Sierra. The east side of the mountains are very dry, and as you descend towards Almeria they become even drier and rockier. (Apparently a number of spaghetti westerns were filmed in that area in the 1940s.) We were able to move into the same apartment that we rented at the very beginning of our trip. (We are all about balance and symmetry). And now, I am sitting on our patio with a 20 degree view of ... read more

I caught the 10:00 bus to Málaga, where I hung out for a couple hours before catching the 1:00 to Almería. The bus ride was one of the most scenic I've been on so far. We were only on the freeway for the first hour or so. After that, we followed the coast, and at times were on a road a few hundred feet above the water complete with hairpin turns. As we moved away from Málaga, the landscape became significantly drier. It also began to be filled with greenhouses, sometimes as far as the eye could see. They were a pretty big eyesore unfortunately, since they were all just white plastic. The bus took an astounding 5 hours to go 255km (a whopping 32 miles per hour overall). When we finally pulled in to Almería ... read more
