Völlig unmöglich, Karten zu bekommen, nur für die Gärten gab's welche. Also sah ich mir die an, las, strickte, zeichnete. Einmal kam eine schwarz-weiße Katze vorbei, aus ihrem Maul hing ein Büschel Gras. Als sie es fallen ließ, wurde es plötzlich lebendig und die Eidechse versuchte zu fliehen. Sie warf einen Teil ihres Schwanzes ab, aber obwohl der noch lange zuckte, konnte er die Katze nicht ablenken und es begann eine muntere Verfolgungsjagd. Die Katze gewann. Die zahlreichen Wasserspiele in "General Life, einem Gartenteil der Alhambra, lassen ahnen, wie heiß es im Sommer ist. Jetzt sind die Brunnen nur schön anzusehen.... read more

Our flight over /the pond’ was taken on the maiden voyage of Iceland Express out of Boston. Whilst the Iceland Express people (management,cabin and gate crew were celebrating with cake, the TSA staff were vetting the plane. for about an hour. Consequently we did not depart until close to 10 PM. On a positive note it made our layover in Iceland shorter and we were able to enjoy the modern terminal and wonderful coffee. Flying into Iceland it was 4C. We were curious about the size of the airport after having discovered that there are only 2 airlines using it. We were enlightened to discover that it was formerly a US military base. Our continuing flight going to Gatwick airport, London, was also delayed by over an hour, we were surprised to find they were waiting ... read more

The Alhambra is a very large complex. One cannot amble about the place in one day. Furthermore, reservations are required for certain parts of the Alhambra because only small groups are allowed into those places at staggered times. If you miss your time slot you are out of luck. And further…furthermore, this is one of the top tourist places in Spain. Do you know what that means? There are hordes of tourists. I don’t do hordes. I can’t be part of a horde. It’s hard to amble when you are in a horde…know what I mean? Our landlord had recommended that we make reservations for the 11:30 time slot. Well, I figured out that we just get there in the morning and make a reservation for later in the afternoon. Nope. It was already sold out ... read more
