Ok, Lake Bled with Amy. Sleeping in… horrible way to start this venture, so I grabbed a quick bite to eat at the hostel and took off towards the buses. I actually got on the correct bus where she said she would be and headed towards the lakes on a rainy day in Slovenia. Although it was disgusting out, the scenery was fantastic, everything was insanely green, the fog peered in and out of the mountains along the road, and when the sun peeked through a rainbow seemed to appear every time. We got there around noon and headed towards the only hostel in the 6,000 person town of Bled. It was still raining and looked like it would never stop, so I took a nap in the hostel above a bar. So set off to Bled in the morning! took the direct bus and went all the way to the city centre. Bled is a beautiful small town...the town surrounds this big lake with Slovenia's only island. Very beautiful and very peaceful. You can actually swim to the island! but I didnt of course..haaaa...didnt wanna drown..haaaaa! They have many activities offering at this place! rafting, kayaking..SKYDIVING!! for 160 Euros....really not bad ne!!!!!ahhhhhh... was so tempted....but in the end actually went for the canyoning. We kinda just walked around the hea around the lake for the afternoon. Canyoning started at 3pm. It was basically wearing wetsuits and walk along the canyon...with is basically jumping off cliffs into pools of water or sliding down rivers and streams!!! it was very fun! the off gravity force for some jumps ... read more

10th Today was such a good day. Met up with a couple of people from last tour an 2 saffas an 2 Sydney girls. Such a perfect day too. We have a bus (big plus) an aussie (real aussie) driver. We stopped off at a place called Province?? looked like an island but just joined to the mainland so had a walk up to the chapel. Lots of nice houses up here compared to inland. We stopped off for a swim an some little rock jumping. A little bit warmer than out in the ocean. After that Patlentica Range came out ofthe distance, awsome mountains. What you have written would probably fit on the back of a postage stamp. If you gaze at a world map, Slovenia is roughly the same size as that postage stamp. While she is small, Slovenia punches way above her weight in terms of attractions. Now, pretend you are an artist, and without anything to copy you would like to paint a landscape. A lake would be nice, surround that lake with hills and in the distance some mountains sprinkled with snow. Slovenia, the unknown jewel of Europe. Tucked away under Austria's imposing mountains, next to Italy's Venietian coastline and above Croatia's islands, relatively mysterious to most travellers or confused with similar sounding Slovakia. We got lots of 'Slovenia? where's that?' Yet we weren't the only Aussies to have discovered this little gem, and encountered as many similar accents to our own as walking around Earls 'kangaroo valley' Court in London. Our flight from Stansted was reasonably good for an easyjet flight. It took a little less than 2 hours to get to Brnik airport flying over snow capped peaks. The Austrian Alps are very close to Slovenia's Julian Alps and all much the same, huge dominating rocky mountains. Le 15e chambionnat mondial de Taekwondo est officiellement commence. Les ceremonies d ouverture ont eu lieu aujourd hui. Il y a 64 pays representes avec environ 400 participants. L equipe canadienne a fait bonne figure, surtout parce que les "O" ladies (ca cest Therese et Lucie) ont fait du Macgyver pour corriger une grosse erreur sur le manteau officiel de l equipe canadienne - une autre bonne utilite pour le "Duck tape"!!! Nous avons visiter l eglise sur l ile - tres belle vieille eglise dediee a la vierge Marie. Nous avons sonne la cloche et fait un voeux! Hier on a fait des "hommes" de nous et on a visite un "hardware"!!!!! (genre Canadian Tire) -- pour le duct tape evidemment. On mange toujours bien. La nourriture est delicieuse. On a goute a 3 desserts ... read more

On est enfin arrive a Bled (excusez les accents.....) Le voyage a ete merveilleux. Swiss air est excellent!!! Il y a meme des jeux videos pour les passagers. Mais l aeroport de Zurich c etait toute une surprise. Tres belle mais tres tres tres cher. 5$ pour une bouteille d eau. Notre escale etait assez longue, 3 heures, donc Lindsay a pu monter a cheval, avec Francois qui tenait la bride pour la proteger en bon chevalier servant. (voir photo ci'bas) L envolee Zurich ' Bled dans un petit avion de 50 places a ete tres bien. Nous avons survole les Alpes aux pic enneiges. Superbe!!!! Nous avons recu un accueil merveilleux a Bled. Francois et Lindsaz etaient attendus par l;association et nous par l;aubergiste de la pension MAYER (avec une pancarte CAYOUETTE comme dans ... read more
