Travelled all night up the Danube from Budapest to the first locks where we "rose" 55 feet (19 meters) to meet the other side of the canal and continue on our journey to Bratislava. This capital city of Slovakia houses half a million ppl and has a main industry of oil refinement. Although not as opulent and ornate as Budapest, the streets are quaint and the people very friendly. For those of you who are history buffs, this is the birthplace of Marie Antoinette. The weather is cloudy and rainy but that didn't stop us from visiting the city core on foot. Now, a little chilled, me thinks it is time for a warm toddy or two as an aperitif to the fine meal that surely awaits us. This evening we will be entertained by traditional Slovakian folklore musicians and dancers. Leave tonight at 11 pm bound for Vienna-

Awesome job on the blog Michelle!. I read all of your posts to your dad today . He had not had a great day, but this really changed that. He was so THRILLED!!! Really made his day and he enjoyed sharing what he learned about your travels with Tom and Rhita over dinner!
