"Follow the Moskva, down to Gorky Park, listen to the wind of change." Opening lyrics 'Wind of Change' by The Scorpions Finally making it to Russia (Рoccия), we enjoyed Moscow (Москва) during their quiet season. Some snow on the ground and sub-zero temperatures meant for short line-ups and few tourists. The joys of travelling at these times. Our home base was near to the core of the c... Read Full Entry

Moscow during the quiet season
Probably not surprising that you guys would visit Moscow in the snow as icy seems to be your thermal norm, if your other blogs are any indication. Gotta say the contrasts of colour that result are stunning...and there's a certain satisfaction to visit when the level of tourist crowds are down. Great pics. Was this in winter and what were the range of temperatures?

Winter indeed.
Dancing Dave, good to hear from you! We were in Moscow in mid February and the temps ranged from minus 11 to minus 2 Celsius for the 5 days we were there. The temps can swing quite a lot though, it can get down to minus 30 and as high as 10 Celsius during the winters... And yes - we are fans of the world's chillier regions! Keep dancing...

Privet!
Moscow - still my all time favorite place! I would have enjoyed the colder temperatures, magical. I loved the subway and of course the Kremlin, as well as Gorky park - and that song did play in my head. Did you go farther aloft? Are you taking the train? I will watch for more blogs.
