Russian Tsars old crowns!!!
Naughty photo as was told off no Photos!!! Today we have arrived in Moscow, the Russian Capital!!!
The train arrived spot on time at 0830 and after we both had a good nights sleep on the sleeper train (hope the 12 days on this next one are as easy).
So our start in Moscow did not go as planned we got the metro from the train station after a massive hike, then went the wrong way on the metro, then could not find the brown coloured metro, then got stuck in a massive queue (was mental Vicky nearly got trampled alive) but eventually we got to the station close to our hostel....or so we thought!!! So after standing around and trying to "get in the map" (my friends quote went over Vicky's head) we asked a few people who didn't really help after walking around we found the correct metro station which we thought we had??? Crazy after walking a marathon (2 hours people) we found the Godzilla Hostel (cool name I know) this was after the road sweeper walked us there!! (gave him a good hand shake as thanks.) So after all that, looking back it may have been worth spending £15 on a 15 minute
taxi to hostel....
The new hostel is 100% better than the old one clean organised just what you want. As we turned up early and couldn't book in until 1400 we decided to see Moscow!!!
So the walk into The city centre was 20mins which was good and the weather was perfect sunny and cold I was loving it (Vicky not so much the cold) once there we headed to the Red Square first, it was not as red as expected 😉 but a massive space filled with tourists, we took the standard photos and then headed to the St Basil Cathedral, this is what the Church on spilled blood in Saint Petersburg was based on. Also got a picture with Vicky at Lenin's Tomb.
Then we headed into the Kremlin which is huge by the way!!! We paid to see the armoury and Cathedrals. In the Armoury are all the gifts to the Tsars from other Russians and Countries, also all the old royal crowns, carriage's and religious artefacts from the Patriarchs (like the Russian popes). It was interesting seeing the wealth there and shows why they revolted against the Tsars!!!
After that we headed
to the Archangel Cathedral which has all the Tsar up until 1730 including the first Ivan the Terrible, was amazing all these powerful people were just in these stone coffins a hands touch away!!!
We then saw the other Cathedrals and Ivan's Bell tower (which we were not allowed up due to maintenance 😞 !!!!!) There was the Tsar Cannon (in the pictures) and the Tsar bell. We then went to the Patriarchs palace which was impressive just because of how plush it is up with the Tsars really (religion getting too powerful).
We then headed to the Hostel to have a breather and to meet our tour group joining us on the trans Mongolian train to Beijing. They all seem like a great bunch: couple of brits and a swede. Off for dinner now!! (noodles again yummy lol)
Lots of love N&V x
