Un weekend prelungit la Eforie Nord (joi-duminica, 7-10 august) O statiune cu un exces de autoserviri pe metru patrat, o plaja plina de sezlong-uri. Nisipul era ok, apa relativ curata, fara valuri, fara pietre. Am stat 3 nopti, 180 lei/noapte (40Euro) fara mic dejun, la un hotel curat, cu camere mari, aer conditionat, foarte ok Lipsa oricarei optiuni de distractie e un standard la noi in tara.... read more

Vama Veche. Festival folk. Am stat 4nopti, la pensiunea Alex, pret 100ron pe noapte. Pensiune noua, noi proprietari/renovata dar fara frigider, in schimb era racoare in camera si nu aveam aer conditionat.

Fara piscina, aer conditionat. De mentionat drumul pe plaja pana in Vama plin de scoici superbe si de cadavre de pesti morti si faptul ca taxiul 2 Mai - Vama era 15 lei.... read more

Hello everybody!! I just came back from a LOVELY holiday in Costinesti. Together with a bunch of friends we headed for the beach on Friday night, taking the motorway to Constanta. Although 3am, it proved to be extremely busy, as lots of people where aiming for the beach at that time. We had a few pit stops along the way, for a wee and a fag and finally made it to Costinesti early morning. Unpacked and went straight to the beach. I'm really proud to say I've accomplished my mission, as I primarily went to the seaside to build up a nice tan which otherwise would have been difficult to accomplish in the city, and in just a few days I looked as brown as I could get!! :)) I LOVED my seaside experience, as we ... read more

Sunday, May 17th...I had to create a seperate entry for this special train ride back to Bucharest because it was so great. We left Vama Veche by way of maxi taxi bus to another sea side town called Mangalia. And from Mangalia we took an hour and a half train ride back to Constanta. In Romania there are 4 different classes of trains. P-Personal, A-Accelerated, I-Intercity and R-Rapid. As you can guess, P is the slowest and cheapest, A is a little faster and the I and R trains are very nice, fast and sometimes have dining cars. Tages and I would always take a P train if we could. I liked the beat up cars and seats (it gave it character), dirty filthy toilets (ok, that was pretty nasty) and the slower pace was fine ... read more

May 15th to May 17th We travelled to the Southern most tip of Romania on the Black Sea to a little seaside town called Vama Veche. We went there because our Let's Go guide had said it remains a destination for Romania's counterculture, with hippies, punks and goths flocking to camp on the nude beach and rock out under the stars. Sounds like paradise, right? Well, we didn't really see any punks but we found out that it only gets busy during the summer when students are on holiday from school. We figured we would get off the bus and make our way to the Sea to camp on the beach. One of our books said you could still camp on the beach and the other said it was not allowed. We didn't really have a ... read more

Well we're here. Its another chapter in 'the life'. It may not be glamorous, but damned if it aint good. At least some of the time, inbetween work that is. Caonstanta is beautiful. I tried to come into this trip with out any preconcieved notions but unfortunately, i did! The people are great and to see a nation in the uprising, comeing out of the weeds completely is beautiful. I wish i was more poetic.... read more

It’s been nice here in Costinesti too. I’ve had a wonderful time with my boyfriend. We played in the warm water and took pictures on the “stafilopods”. We hugged and kissed in the warm light…He’s been with me all the time and we’ve shared a lot of great moments together. When the sun set in, there was party time!!! We went to the one place that remains the same every year (in a positive way I mean): White Horse. This rock and roll café or pub is awesome. It’s always crowded in here and the people are great and really know how to have fun. Some traveled for 16 hours and the first place they wanted to visit in Costinesti was White Horse. If you ever come here, don’t miss it! The music is like nowhere ... read more

I don’t want to be a negative thinker. I make abstraction of the bad things around me and try to have fun. I criticize a lot though, but wouldn’t you? Just take a look at what the word “resort” means to some people. I photographed Costinesti and had a revelation of what civilization means to some. I expect things to be different in other countries. For now, I am actually stuck here and obliged to “enjoy” the weird vacation I’m having in this fair. There’s food everywhere. A multitude of kiosks and small shops, fast food counters and “get it yourself” cafeterias pave the way to the beach. It’s a sad view. The place is crowded and smells like fish, kebabs and, the most popular, shawarma (saorma). Maybe it does sound interesting. For a moment you ... read more
