... read more

De schoolvakantie is hier sinds verleden ... read more

Hotelul are 3stele si pozitia lui este un ... read more

Another roadtrip, this time not so short and even more spontaneous. Headed for the sea at 10 pm, strolled around the beach for less than an hour, mostly because of the cold, stopped at a restaurant in Constanta and then headed back home, where I arrived at about 6 am. Total distance: 450 km (on a Monday night, during a work week...)... read more

Constanta, Romania Constanta is a small city in the midst of a serious reconstruction effort. It has a long way to go. Nonetheless it is worth visiting if you don’t mind zigzagging around construction pits, loose cobble stones and piles of rubble. We were told that the reconstruction is being partially financed by the European Union, while Romania struggles to keep up with its more prosperous fellow EU members. Our talkative guide was a chubby little man who regaled us with tails of the disastrous years when Nikolai Ceausescu and his evil wife ruled the country. Fear of the secret police kept the people in line while Ceausescu ruined the economy. He and his wife got their comeuppance in 1989 when they were both arrested and summarily executed. Romania and Constanta has come a ... read more

This morning we woke to a weather condition we haven't experienced so far on the BBA V2,fog. The view we had up the beach towards Constanta had disappeared completely and there was fog swirling around the hotels around us.Overhead you could glimpse of blue so there was some hope that once the sun got a bit higher in the sky the weather would clear. After a BBA breakfast we headed down to the main road and waited for a bus.A young woman waiting for the bus confirmed that it would take us to a mall we had passed yesterday although it would leave us with a good walk to the attractions we planned to see in the old town. The city's main streets are two or three lane boulevards one of the legacies of the French ... read more

Crossing borders for the BBA seem to be happening every other day although in reality it is not that frequent but we are starting to tote the numbers up. Another fine and sunny day had dawned(sorry about that to all you Kiwis in the wintry Southern Hemisphere reading this while trying to keep warm)which made for very pleasant driving through the last of the vast Bulgarian wheat and sunflower acreage and over the border into Romania. We were in no hurry again as it was a relatively short journey up to Mamaia a suburb of Constantia and still on the Black Sea coast.Barry the on site manager said for us to take our time but eventually all good things must come to an end and we finally got away from the very comfortable apartment we had ... read more

On Sunday the 3.7. I started from Belgrade after two good starters of Rakia offered by Danijela. I wanted to catch up with the big group of cyclists in two days. The problem was that they could receive my messages but I couldnt get their messages. And phoning is also not so easy since most the time you are on bike or have the mobile out to save accu. So the communication was a little bit difficult. One message I got, the plan for the next two rest stations. I was riding a lot to get to the place, Donji Milanovic. I was quite satisfied to get there and phoned to the one guy. He said, oh, were already 30 km beyond that place, didn't you get my text? Arrghh! So, my mood was in the ... read more

Getting to Constanta seemed so straight forward. Get the bus to Varna, walk 10 minutes to the bus station, get the bus to Constanta, cross the border from one EU country to another, get off in Constanta, find hostel. Well it wasn't quite that simple! The bus from the village where we were staying arrived in Varna 15 minutes after the Constanta bus left. The solution was to cadge a lift off one of our new-found friends and that even gave us time for a leisurely lunch at the bus station. Then we nearly missed the bus because it didn't leave from where we were told it would! Next the bus crawled out of Bulgaria stopping at various remote resorts to pick up a solitary passenger or two. Finally we reached the border but all was ... read more

Constanta- toate drumurile duc la mare Desi mergem aproape in fiecare sezon la mare vreau sa notez aici 2 locuri unde ne-am cazat in Constanta.
