Hostel beds and scary stairs.Again I woke up quite late, making it in time for the 11 o’clock bus to Lisbon. After I packed up my things, I went to check out. Of course the guy convinced me to stay there a little longer, but I told him I had to go and nicely left. I dragged my luggage to the bus station, bought my ticket, and got on board. After the 90 minute ride, I took the metro to the destination the hostel told me. Again, I proceeded to walk around, trying to follow the directions and find my hostel. It took about thirty minutes this time, and a couple of hills, but I was able to find my hostel. I went to check in, but I was a little early. I ended up leaving my stuff there and walking around a bit. Right across the street from my hostel, there is a lookout point over the city. It is an amazing view. After I stared across the beautiful city, I decided it was time to get some food. I walked all the way down to the bay, and found a little bar to eat at. I ordered a pork fillet with some French
A view from the look out point.fries and a water. After my lunch, I made my way back to my hostel. I took my luggage and went up to me room, to find three bunk beds stacked on top of each other, with two of them. They have these weird zigzag stairs, which of course, I was located on the very top bunk. I settled my stuff in, and decided to go explore the city for a little while. What I was not expecting was to fall in love with the city in about four hours. I walked around the area near my hostel, which seems to be the main part. I found an artisans market, where I happened to buy a lot of things. I found the ocean again and sat there just relaxing for a while. I then walked around the plazas and squares of the city, just soaking it in. I love the city atmosphere, along with the beach right by it, with mountains in the distance. That is the perfect place for me. I love the city, love the beach, and it is nice to be able to drive maybe an hour away to go to the mountains. It was starting to
A monument.get kind of late, so I decided to head back to the hostel. Once I got there, I met my new roommates. They were all pretty nice and invited me to dinner. One of them is a doctor from Amsterdam. She had a couple days off and decided to go venture to Portugal. The other two were a couple from Chile that now live in Belgium. They heard of this really great restaurant where all the locals go to eat. So I decided to join them. It ended up being this really nice seafood place where the cheapest thing of the menu was 20 dollars. Of course I ordered it, which happened to be crab. What we all didn’t realize was that it was for everyone to share. So they first brought of the crab, then the pawn, and then the lobster. It was all quite delicious, but we ended up splitting the bill, So I don’t think it was worth 35 dollars. They all seemed to think it was cheap for a dinner in Europe, while I thought it was too expensive. Of course the girl is a doctor, the boy of the couple is an engineer, and the
My lunch :)boyfriend pays for whatever the girlfriend wants. What I reminded myself was that it was about the experience. I was able to meet new people from across the world and hang out with them for dinner. I just probably won’t eat dinner for the next three nights, haha. We got finished with dinner pretty late, so we walked through the glowing city on our way back to the hostel. A new roommate arrived when we got back from somewhere that speaks Dutch. He seems pretty nice, but we didn’t get to speak very much. I felt bad for him though whenever I made my way up and down the stairs in the night to go to the bathroom. Such fun in the dark! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
