Our rental Smart car

When we rented this Smart car, Bob told them there was a problem with the car – they only rented us ½ a car, but we were charged full rate! It handled well, was easy to park in small places, good on diesel consumption and roomy than they look.

One of many churches you see while traveling around the island of Sao Jorge. Unfortunately many you could not enter as there weren’t door handles on the outside.

We could picture ourselves being anchored in this very protected spot that the volcanoes created.

This natural pool area was quite unique as it had a real sand beach (whiter area) on the left and rock beach (darker color) on the right so you could choose which you like better to lay on.

Who in the US would think of laying your beach towel down here? If it is near water it seems to work here as a “beach”. It is great to see the waterfront is used constantly here.

We met Chuck from Reflections in Horta. He built his boat without a motor in it so we watched how he pulled the boat around and away from the dock when he was ready to leave Velas. He definitely has it down to a science.
