Yeah, so much for staying here for three or four days. We've been here for almost three weeks now, but after some serious beach, serious sun and serious partying, it's time to move on. Jay and I were very close to finding jobs here and staying until the middle of July. Eventually, though, we decided to keep moving, see most of what we came here to see, and come back next May for jobs. Lagos is a small city overrun by Australians and Canadians. Americans, Kiwis and Brits make cameo appearances. The old part of the city, where we spent almost all of our time, is narrow streets and small white buildings enclosed in ancient city walls. It was originally a shipping outpost built by Henry the Navigator in the 15th century. At its best it ... read more

I am the traveling fanatic! Every year, my friends and I travel to different parts of the world and share our experiences with all of you. I am in my early thirties and I have visited over thirty destinations around the world thus far. The Algarve - Playground of Portugal. Words can not possibly express my experience in this beautiful part of Portugal. With all that sunshine, naturally many holidaymakers come in search of beaches, and they're not disappointed. With around 270km of coastline, including everything from wide sandy beaches to secluded inlets, there's something for everyone. Add to that a wide variety of accommodation with luxury resorts near bustling towns to quiet villages, and there's no doubt everyone is catered for. I would rate this trip 9/10. Great weather, beautiful scenery and beaches. Cheap food ... read more

For Hallie’s last weekend in Europe, we decided to do a five-day trip to Lisbon and Lagos, Portugal. We took the midnight bus from Sevilla after saying goodbye to Donny and Julia for the last time. As we found our seats, a redheaded boy in the back of the bus gave us a knowing nod, acknowledging that we were all Americans. Ben, as he calls himself (Benji, as I took to calling him) approached us immediately upon descending the bus in Lisbon at 6 am Portugal time. We decided that we would make the journey from the bus station into the center of the city together, none of us really knowing neither how far it was nor how to get there. After speaking Spanish at a Portuguese bus driver, we discovered that the walk would take ... read more

Hi Guys! Well I know it's been a while since my last update so i'll try and make this one reasonably informative. In terms of what i've been up to, my job is still going really well and Nina and I are enjoying the fine weather. It's so nice being able to spend our days with friends in the Parks or Zoo rather than being stuck inside indoor playgrounds whilst it's pouring with rain! My flat is going really well and when we are together we generally have a few drinks but most of the time Annette and I are out and about in the area having drinks and BBQs with friends. I am playing Netball as well and we have another good team which always makes it lots of fun. Recently Annette and I went ... read more

April 12, 2008 We went to the free breakfast, and it was delish because there were peaches and pineapple and chocolate muffins! Then Julie, Katie, and I headed to the beach. The beaches in Portugal are gorgeous! There are cliffs and rocks all over. We found a place to lay and started to tan. I went for a couple walks because I was getting bored and wanted to see more of the beach. Around 3, after 4 ½ hours of sun, we headed in to shower. Then we went shopping in the stores off the main road. On our way back, we stopped to get some ice cream. I had Duplo Caramelo which was vanilla with caramel and walnuts. Very good. At 6:30, we all met up to go to Cabo San Vicente in Sagres to ... read more

April 13, 2008 We left leaving Portimao this morning, so it was breakfast and onto the bus for an hour until we arrived in Albufeira, an Arabic influenced town. We were given 5 hours here, so we headed to the beach. Now since we, especially me, were a little colored from the day of tanning before, we lathered up our sunscreen before laying out. We didn’t have much to do, so again walks happened. After awhile on the beach, I decided I needed to flip over, so the clothes went on so I wouldn’t get even more burned! Julie, Katie, and I had spent enough time on the beach, and decided we wanted to walk around. So we got all of our stuff together and went shopping. While we were walking around we stopped at a ... read more

April 11, 2008 After getting ready this morning, Julie and I met Katie at the bridge and walked to where we would get on the bus to Portugal. For once in my life I stayed awake on the bus because I was too busy reading my book “Playing for Pizza” by John Grisham. A couple hours after we left, we arrived at the boat to take us to Ihla de Tavira, the island we would spend 5 hours at. We headed straight to the beach, after we changed, to work on our tans. When the sun was out, it was nice, otherwise it was very windy, a little cold, and the sand blew all over- not fun! We decided to go for a walk a little later to kill time. We found a bunch of washed ... read more

Friday... after a 6 hour bus ride we arrived in Lagos at about 10pm. We found our hostal... which was by far the nicest hostal i´ve seen/ stayed in. It was filled with people around our age and there was a huge entertainment room with couches and a big tv and a couple computers. Our room was just the 6 of us that came together: Me, Cody, Colleen, Adam, Alex and Brad. We settled in and then went to a restuarant right down the street called NahNahBah.. owned by the same people that owned our hostal. It was a really fun place... it kind of had a tiki bar atmosphere with reggae music and cool artwork on the walls. After dinner, we talked to a few people that worked in our hostal and they told us ... read more
