The last leg of our travels is in the Algarve sharing a Villa with 4 other couples who have been friends for many years. It’s a beautiful Villa with all the amenities for our group including a large outdoor pool, fully equipped gym, theatre room and a large kitchen with a counter big enough to comfortably seat 10 people. It was a wonderful experience with lots of shared meals and good conversation. Being able to spend some quality time with some of our friends after being somewhat socially separated during the past 2 years of Covid has been a real enjoyable experience. Our group booked a boat tour of the Benagil Caves on the coast in Albufeira. It was an impressive view of the weather worn cliffs and caves. Nature used the wind and waves to ... read more

Today looked colder than yesterday when we got up, but still, the three elderly ladies who are also staying at these apartments were bravely lying by the pool. It might have been warmish in sheltered areas but it was goosebumps in the wind. It seems that some tourists have come to get a tan by the pool, and not any amount of cool weather is going to stop them! We left Albufeira, which we haven't really explored yet. The area we are in is touristy, but still nice, the buildings not being more than three storeys high and built in the style of traditional Portuguese architecture. Most of the building are white with a few blue or yellow places standing out. We drove to Vilamoura which is not a town, but the land of golf. OK, ... read more

Oh where oh where has my little phone gone... Oh where or where can it be? First time ever while traveling and I've lost my iPhone. Which is in a case that also has my debit and credit cards. Oops. Thankfully I keep my passport separate and even my cash elsewhere but still discouraging to think I've lost it. Last time I had it was on the coach, and I had dozed off so when we arrived I grabbed my stuff quickly. The hotel phoned my TD for me and they get back from an optional dinner at 9:30 so I'm waiting until then to either breath a sigh of relief or panic. Boo. Either way its terribly distracting to say the least. So here I sit nibbling on fresh grape tomatoes, nuts and crackers I ... read more

The time came, that we had to leave Lisboa. We moved about 250 kilometres to the south in Portugal to a small place called Villamoura. We keep mostly away from the Freeways but that is not always possible. You see more on the small roads. We had a nice time when we stopped for a coffee at a roadhouse. There we had some fun with the Girl that served us and long distance drivers. The Girl spoke English, she worken in America before. Our family Hotel near Villamoura was also a Spa and health club. The first night we were in a double bedroom. At our age that is not comfortable. Okay for the young couples that are there for the weekend, that need only half the bed, but with our seize, it is a bit ... read more

The delay in posting another blog has been because we didn't buy a sim card for your phone in Portugal. This usually gives us a certain amount of data that we use on internet. Portugal has really turned it on. The Portuguese are very friendly people and no one cares where you park for the night. Our days have passed along many white sandy beaches with crystal clear water. Dan has been having a few kites along various lagoons and surf beaches. Makes us very regretfull that we couldn't buy paddleboards as that would be stella...not that they would fit in the van. Started in Porto where on our first night there was a festival 400m along the street with traditional portuguese dancing, churros and fireworks, really nice suprise. We have since made our way down ... read more
