We visited the Novacortica cork production factory. Very interesting! This factory is one of nearly 600 in Portugal. It is considered a medium-size factory. It is a 3rdgeneration family business and currently has 43 employees. Each factory specializes in a certain area of the cork production. Each disc passes under a laser

Ladies go through each bag doing one final check of the discs.

This machine separates the granules based on their weight. The heavier ones fall to the far left.

You can see how the heavier granules wear away the paint on the bin.

Her left hand holds the lower grade granules while she holds the finer ones in her right hand.
