Today is Sunday February 27 and I have been in my next place for 9 days. This was originally written mid February, but I did not label the pictures until today.

After Arriving with my new Visa January 21, 2022 to my long standing 30 day reservation at an AirBNB here in Armacao de Pera (pronounced Arm-a-sow de Pear-a) I started looking for a long term apartment to stay in Albufiera, but it is quieter and much smaller at 35,000 in the summer, more quiet and is favored by Portuguese families and tourists. It is about 25 minutes West of Albufeira which has more English, US and Europeans and higher rental prices swelling to 300,000 people during the summer.

The Albufeira bus station is far reaching and gets me anywhere I want to go-West and north to Lisbon, Porto etc or East to Tavira along the border with Spain. My first visit in Spain will be

to Sevilla, then Cadiz South, (both close to Portugal), Valencia, Barcelona or Madrid and beyond to France. I will reserve Gibraltar (Spain/UK) for if and when I decide to go to Morocco in Northern Africa.

From last picture I turned around and took this picture looking east. The Walkway East from here leads to the Forteleza "fort" built in 1667 and to "old town" ; pics of the forteleza walls and the chapel inside later.

Old Town begins from the Forteleza 60 meters from my AirBnb. Looking downhill ( the cliffs end) the old town is mostly at beach level and goes for maybe 300 meters and has various narrow streets off the right all the way to the beach area

exciting adventure
Mike, This is a wonderful blog. Thanks for doing this. Your descriptions are easy to follow. Fun to read. It's easy to see why you love this part of the world. Armacao de Pera is charming. The tile walkways are beautiful. The caves make a great hike and adventure too! You look like you are having fun! Well done! Chris
