A Unesco Town While our time in Spain had temporarily come to an end, we were thrilled and excited to be moving on to Portugal. A new country, a river cruise on the Douro River and reuniting with Travel Brendan bvchef. We haven’t traveled with him in some five years and it was long overdue! As we live in the days of the world-wide pandemic, we first needed to get tested in order to gain entry ... Read Full Entry

Nice way to start Potugal
This was a nice way to ease into a new country. The monoliths are quite interesting, not to mention some good food.

Evora with Ease
Quaint looking towns! When I was in Spain I was fascinated with the cork trees. Y’all are looking good in spite of the heat. Continue to enjoy your anniversary trip. MM

Until we tasted the persimmon we didn't realize we had never eaten one. We are now curious why they are not more popular fruit as it was wonderful. It was a lovely town. Thanks for commenting.

What a great town!
An aqueduct and monoliths! Plus walkability? This town sounds great! Thanks for introducing me to it. Also, what airline did you fly into Portugal from Spain?

What a great town!
Evora was lovely and is very walkable. We drove the car to the parking lot and didn't us it until we left town to go to the monoliths. We flew TAP but if you are going soon I would recommend driving. Crossing the Spain Portugal boarders in a car you don't have to deal with COVID testing. We are told Lisbon to Madrid is only a 4 hour drive. We could have done that instead but didn't think of it in time as we planned this trip last minute.

In your footsteps!
I’m so glad you’re doing Portugal , then I can follow in your footsteps. Evora sounds delightful. I’m doing my usual , saving up the blogs to read like a box set ! I’d like to take my car from England to N.Spain on the ferry and then drive around Spain and Portugal ....one day !

In our footsteps!
More blogs are coming soon. Evora was lovely. I do wish we'd had time to explore further east. Maybe next time. Driving would be ideal as there are so many cute towns to explore and the roads in Portugal are in fantastic shape. Hopefully, you will make that trip soon.

Evora
This looks a lovely part of your journey, and seems quite off-the-beaten track. I just love the casual evenings in Latin countries, the plazas, the people out for a stroll, and the music and convivial atmosphere. Portugal seems similar to Spain in this respect. And what a beautiful sunset! A lovely introduction to Portugal for you ?

Evora
This turned out to be one of our favorite towns. The sunsets were amazing. As you say, a great introduction to the country. We really liked Portugal.

Portugal offers many lovely small towns. If we'd had more time we would have visited three or four more of them. Rich in history and beauty.
