Had a sleep in this morning and went into town on my own. Caught the tram from outside the campsite. Got off at the castle and wandered around it. Didn't seem like much of a castle, especially when I've seen better ones. Walked around until I found the mini-bus that would take me to the Wieliczka Salt Mines. It was full of locals and didn't quite take me to the salt mines- I had to walk down the hill and through the town in the rain. Found out later one that there are direct mini-buses, I just caught the wrong one there. The English speaking tour was at 12.30, so I had a hot drink and waited around. We had to walk down about 60 flights of stairs, then we were 64 metres below the ground. As a tourist we only saw 1% of the salt mines. There are large salt sculptures demonstrating how the workers mined salt. There are two chapels down there and people regularly get married and have their reception party there. Everything in the chapel is made of salt, including a huge chandelier. There is also a salt pond, which is like being in the

Part of the castle Dead Sea. At the end of the tour I ran into Kate and we caught the bus to town and had lunch. Then walked around the town square and took a few photos of churches and browsed the souvenir stores.
