Our stay in Molde was at the Hotel Seilet which is uniquely designed in the shape of a sail with superb views of the fjord and mountains and was within walking distance of town. We used this as our base camp to travel to the nearby communities of Vevang, Hustad, Farstad and others as well as fishing villages. Our first night in town we got together with Margaret (Sivertsen) and Max Mork. Margaret's great-great grandfather and Warren's grandfather Vevang were half-brothers so that makes her some kind of distant cousin. Max and Margaret gave us a tour of the town of Molde and then had us to their home for coffee as well as some lively conversation.

On Friday Max and Margaret drove us to the community of Vevang where we walked around a bit and saw the home where Warren's great-grandfather and grandfather Vevang lived. The house was built over 200 years ago and looks really good. We then drove the Atlantic Road which is a unique highway that zigzags across 8 bridges and rock fills from island to island right out to the oceans edge. The road begins just outside Vevang, crossing the notorious waters of Hustiika Bay and was voted Norwegian Structure of the Century. After driving the Atlantic Road we rode in an old Viking Ship to the fishing village of Haholmen (which is an island) for lunch. Many of the buildings there date from the 17th and 18th century along with a collection of old boats. Took the scenic route back to Molde through the communities of Farstad, Nerland, Stavik and Tornes as well as the fishing village of Bud.
