So sad to be leaving Geiranger (on yet another ferry), one of the most beautiful areas we have visited in Norway. Apart from the precipitous mountainsides and many waterfalls, it is probably the traces of people who have lived and worked on the many abandoned mountain and fjordside farms that leaves the deepest impression. One farm was on such a steep mountainside that they had to tether their young children. After leaving the ferry we traveled to the town of Andalsnes taking the scenic Trollstigen (means troll ladder) Road which is the most visited tourist road in Norway. The road climbs and twists through 11 hairpin bends as it climbs the steep mountainside up to Stigora (4800 ft). The trollvegan wall is the tallest vertical cliff face in Euope.
