Ferry DockFerry DockFerry Dock

Notice the small truck coming off the ferry at the right of the picture. Ferries are a necessity in the fjord areas of Norway. A ferry arrives every fifteen minutes, loads, and departs seven minutes later. Clockwork. We'll catch one here later this morning. Can't get much closer.
Arrived at our very large apartment, large even by U.S. standards, a little after 16:00 (4pm for Americans) and watched the ferry operation. The ferry dock is located perhaps thirty yards from our front door. No, there is neither noise nor excessive activity. Ferries are rather quiet, while cars, buses and transfer trucks are loaded quickly and efficiently. We walked about our large town (okay, the large part is not true) enjoying the activity and scenery. Temperature remains at record levels today, but the forecast calls for a return to reality. Oh well, nice while it lasted.

We are gradually working our way north, and have noticed it is never dark; sun sets but twilight remains until it rises way before we do. We leave for the coast later this morning, and after a couple of days in Alesund, followed by the same number in Trondheim fly up the coast (in our little Volvo) arriving at Bodo two days later, which is above the artic circle-no sunset there at all this time of year.

Eidsdal consists of this "restaurant", food market and a couple of hotels, all within a hundred yards of us.

Valley Farming

There is a large valley on the other side of the mountain from Geiranger, close to where we are staying in Eidsdal. Livestock only. Norway grows a lot of grass, and only a few edible crops, essentially fruit.

267 Step Waterfall

Took a hike from Geiranger to their waterfall where they advertised 267 steps to the top. Seduced into continuing as anticipated a better shot around the next bend. Never happened, just a series of short falls till the top here. Included it anyway for the next picture.

Water from the waterfall entering the fjord. Notice the clarity. Very typical of their streams and rivers. Hey Will, where do fish hide?

Seven Sisters

During a typical early summer there are seven distinct falls here. We only counted four. Yes, its been sunny (read dry) and warm.

Took a number of pictures similar to this on the fjord cruise, but the high sun was not our friend. This one is the best of the bunch.
