Before I update you a friend of mine wants to say hi (he's from Iceland - yea I didn't realize people actually live there either): komidi blessud og sael fallega folk.. gud blessi ykkur og gefi ykkur feitan dag!!! Today was the beginning of a three day long outreach in Oslo called "En Smak Av Himmel" or for those who don't speak Norwegian - "A Taste of Heaven." We teamed up with a team from Sweden and another church here in town with the intention of giving Oslo a taste of heaven. We all first met at our church and prayed for the day. We were put into three different groups, a mixture of Swedes and Norwegians (since our temporary home is here we all were included in this group) and went to different locations in ... read more

I am not sure if it is because I just think I am too old for games or it is because I am not in touch with my artistic side but acting like various animals is not something I find that amusing. Sometimes we have to do things we don’t like, things we see no sense in - today was one of those days. As part of our dance practice, we had to act like different animals (it began with any animals we chose and then some our instructor chose). It is times like this that I just feel old. Most other people seemed to get a kick out of growling and attacking people in their lion form, or purring like a cat. Thankfully it only lasted half an hour but it felt like forever! Afterward ... read more

Today I went to a coffee shop just to spend some extended time alone with God. It is getting chilly here, I even wore my ski jacket (it is only September; I hope I will survive come December!). It was still a very peaceful and beautiful walk along the harbor. What I read today was about Joseph. It is the part in Joseph's life where he reveals to his brothers who he is and instead of killing them in revenge because they had sold him in to slavery many years before he chose to hug them and said to them that he knew it was God who sent him not them. Despite all the pain and hurt he had gone through because of the day they dropped him in the cistern he saw that God had ... read more

Last night one of the former Jesus Revolution Soldiers invited all of the girls living in the house over to her flat for a girl's night party. Talitha and I went over early to help set up. I bought ingredients and made chocolate chip cookies (they don't have chocolate chips so Talitha had to cut up chocolate bars). We kind of improvised but they turned out pretty good. I helped make waffles and then we were popping pop corn and the microwave caught on fire right before everyone arrived. Overall the night was really fun and most of the girls showed up, even the girl we met the previous night from Poland. She is supposed to come to church with us tomorrow and perhaps even her boyfriend. ... read more

After a long train ride from Trondheim, we finally arrived in Oslo late Monday night. We managed to find a hotel for the night, but had to get up early the next morning to find another hotel for the rest of the week since so many of the local hotels didn’t have rooms available on Wednesday night. While Jill & I repacked our things, Keith and Ben scouted out the city for a way to make the American laptop plug work in Norway (the adapter we brought with us was only for 2 prong plugs). We got checked into our home for the next few days, Hotel Savoy, then headed out for a tour of Oslo while Keith worked on his presentation for the JavaZone conference on Thursday. Jill, Ben, and I walked along Karl Johans ... read more

I know all of my entries have been so up beat and for the most part, I do actually feel that way. Thankfully whether or not God is in my life does not depend on me and my feelings! Today was a hard day for me. I don’t even know why, I just woke up that way. I know as I get to know Jesus and as I let Him live through me I will have to change. I know I want to change but it is hard sometimes to let go of things, things we think are just “rights” that we should have. For instance, sometimes it is hard being one of the oldest here and having to take directions from people so much younger. I know it is silly but part of me resists ... read more

Today during chapel the founder of Jesus Revolution spoke about the missions perspective of the organization. Jesus Revolution is seeking to open a base in the US to mobilize American youth to come and do missions in Europe. He spoke a little about the history of Europe and how when Europeans first came to America there were two groups: the first seeking jobs and opportunities and the other fleeing from religious persecution. So many nations in Europe were almost emptied those truly seeking God and religious freedom. Now in Europe there are 0.1% of evangelical Christians (where the gospel is being preached so people can understand and it is not just religion). He quoted Acts 16: 6-9 and said he feels Europe is now crying out for help. He said there must be a bridge ... read more

Today we are going out into the streets of Oslo for an hour in groups of two to evangelize. Before going out we had a basic teaching on evangelizing, making sure we get across the message of the gospel because that is where the power is. The major points of creation, the fall of man, redemption - our sin is paid for, and the choice to receive the ‘ticket’ to heaven - receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior. 1. In the beginning when God created man their relationship was perfect. 2. Then the devil came and tempted Eve into eating the apple. God did not want this to happen, and even warned Adam and Eve but man was disobedient and this let war, sickness, ect into the world. Now man and God no longer have ... read more

I went down to the fortress for my PT. It was very nice just being outside by myself and looking out at the harbor with all of the amazing sailboats. As I was walking out there I was just feeling a little, not down, but just like I wanted more. You can see so much of God all around the house and I was just praying, “Lord I want to hear from you, I want to know You more for myself not just through others.” So I sat down and started reading my Bible. Here is part of what I read: Psalm 17:15 “And I - in righteousness will see your face when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.” Then I read in Matthew 17 about the transfiguration when Peter, James, & ... read more
